On 11th February 2021, a webinar on “Alpha-Decay Half lives” was organized by the Physics department, B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar. In this webinar, our key speaker was Dr. Harjeet Kaur, Assistant professor in Physics at GNDU, Amritsar. The webinar was conducted at a Google meeting. There were above 90 Participants in this webinar.
At about 11:00 a.m. webinar starts with the opening remarks including an introduction to Nuclear Physics and technologies. After that Dr. Harjeet kaur discussed the agenda of the said webinar and told us how discoveries in Nuclear Physics are the basis of life-saving technologies such as radiotherapy, cancer research, medical imaging, and smoke detectors. She also discussed how alpha decay could treat serious diseases like cancer.
Afterward, the Webinar ended with the question-and-Answer series. It ends at about 12:00 p.m. on the same day.
