Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, the Chemistry Department, under the aegis of the III Society of Science Students and in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), organized a One Day Intra-College Poster Presentation Competition on 28th February 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chemistry Department. The theme of the competition was “Role of Women in Science and Innovation.” The program was further supported by Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Head of the Chemistry Department, Mr. Neeraj Virdi, Ms. Baldeep Kaur, Ms. Sandeep Kaur, and Ms. Esha Rani, Assistant Professors in the Chemistry Department.
The objective of the competition was to highlight the significant contributions of women in science and innovation, promote gender equality in STEM fields, and encourage creativity, research aptitude, and presentation skills among students.
Students from various classes enthusiastically participated and presented informative and creative posters showcasing the achievements of renowned women scientists, women-led innovations, challenges faced by women in STEM, and initiatives supporting women in research and technology. The participants confidently presented their ideas before the judges. The posters were evaluated based on relevance to the theme, originality, scientific content, presentation skills, and overall impact.
According to the final results, Siya and Payal from B.Sc. B.Ed. Fourth Semester secured the First Prize. Ramandeep and Komal from M.Sc. Chemistry, Second Semester secured the Second Prize, while Diksha Rani and Nitika from M.Sc. Chemistry, Second Semester secured the Third Prize. Two Consolation Prizes were awarded to Kiranpreet from M.Sc. Chemistry, Second Semester, and Dheeraj Choudhury and Jashandeep from B.Sc. B.Ed. Fourth Semester. All winners were awarded prizes and certificates for their outstanding performances.
The event proved to be highly successful in promoting awareness about the vital role of women in science and fostering innovative thinking among students. The Department of Chemistry expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, organizing committee members, and participants for making the event meaningful and successful.
