Theme: “Mathematics Around Us”
The Department of Mathematics, Babbar Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, running under the management of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, under the banner of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a Poster Presentation and Photography Competition on the theme “Mathematics Around Us” on 29 September 2026. The event was sponsored by the III Society of Science Students and organised under the guidance of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera.
The Photography Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who creatively captured mathematical concepts and patterns in their surroundings. Dheeraj Chaudhary (B.Sc. B.Ed. 3rd Year) secured 1st position, Anmolpreet (BCA 1) 2nd position, and Siya (B.Sc. B.Ed. 3rd Year) 3rd position. In the Poster Presentation Competition, Siya (B.Sc. B.Ed. 3rd Year) secured 1st position, Anjali (B.Sc. 3rd Year) 2nd position, and Taranpreet (B.Sc. B.Ed. 3rd Year) 3rd position. Jaspreet (B.Sc. NM-1) and Damini (BCA 3rd Year) received Consolation Prizes for their commendable efforts.
Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal, appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and creativity and encouraged them to explore mathematics beyond textbooks and classrooms by identifying its presence in everyday life. The event was also graced by Dr. Manbeer Kaur, Prof. Deepika, Dr. Preetinder Singh, Prof. Kanika, Prof. Tapinder Kaur, Prof. Chandni, Prof. Simran Kaur and Prof. Zarina Begum, whose presence added to the enthusiasm of the participants.
The competition provided students with a meaningful platform to showcase their creativity, observation skills and understanding of mathematics in real-life contexts. The event successfully conveyed the message that Mathematics is not confined to the classroom—it is all around us: Observe, Explore, Express and Celebrate Mathematics.
