Introduction

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully conducted Mock Interview – Round 1 on 1st March 2025. The session aimed to provide students with a real-time interview experience and help them develop confidence in facing professional interviews.

The event was conducted under the guidance and support of Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal, whose vision focuses on enhancing students’ career opportunities through such practical learning initiatives.

Objectives of the Event

• To provide students with a practical understanding of interview techniques.
• To enhance communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• To build confidence and reduce interview-related anxiety.
• To offer expert feedback for improvement.

Event Highlights

The session was guided by Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Coordinator, CGPC, who provided valuable insights into interview strategies, employer expectations, and key areas of improvement for the students. Under his guidance, the mock interviews were conducted in a professional setting, where students were assessed on various parameters such as body language, technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and overall personality.

Students actively participated in the session, answering a variety of technical and HR-based questions. Dr. Ajay Dutta provided individual feedback, highlighting strengths and suggesting areas for improvement. The session was interactive, allowing students to clarify doubts regarding interview techniques and industry expectations.

Conclusion

The Mock Interview – Round 1 was a highly engaging and insightful session, equipping students with the necessary skills to face job interviews confidently. The participants appreciated the structured approach and expert guidance, particularly from Dr. Gurpreet Singh, whose mentorship played a key role in the session’s success.

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell looks forward to organizing more such events to further enhance the employability and career readiness of students.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Career Guidance and Placement Cell, and the Department of Computer Science at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Chandigarh, proudly inaugurated the Augmented & Virtual Reality Bootcamp on February 28th, 2025. This bootcamp, conducted under the FutureSkills PRIME Scheme, aims to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in AR/VR technologies and game development.

The inaugural session commenced in the esteemed presence of Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the College, who extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. He emphasized the significance of emerging technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in revolutionizing industries and creating new career opportunities for students.
Dr. Sarwan Singh, Joint Director, NIELIT, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the increasing demand for AR/VR applications in various sectors, including gaming, healthcare, education, and entertainment. He encouraged students to leverage this bootcamp as a stepping stone for developing industry-relevant skills.
The event was also graced by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HOD, Commerce Department), Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi and Prof. Deepika (Convener, IIC). Dr. Ajay Dutta (President, IIC) also addressed the audience, discussing the role of AR/VR technologies in fostering technical proficiency among students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, expressing gratitude to Dr. Sarwan Singh and his team members Mr. Lovnish Verma and Mr. Nikshep Paliwal and all attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
This five-day bootcamp (March 3 – March 7, 2025) is expected to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge, fostering innovation and skill development in AR/VR technologies.

 National Startup Day Celebration
B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar
Date: 16th January 2025

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Computer Science, celebrated National Startup Day on 16th January 2025 at 9:15 AM in the college’s Smart Room. The event aimed to foster entrepreneurial spirit among students and provide them with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas.

Event Highlights:

The program began with a welcome address by . Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department of Commerce and Economic. Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the college, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the significance of startups in economic development.

The stage proceedings were gracefully managed by Prof. Gurjinder Kaur and Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, who ensured the smooth flow of the program.

Student Activities:

To engage students and encourage their active participation, the following activities were organized:

1. PPT Presentation: Students presented their innovative startup ideas and business plans through visually engaging presentations.
2. Speech Competition: Participants delivered speeches on topics related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup culture.
3. Quiz Competition: A quiz was conducted to test the entrepreneurial knowledge of the students, focusing on startup terminologies, successful entrepreneurs, and government initiatives.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, showcasing their creativity and critical thinking.

Conclusion:

The celebration of National Startup Day proved to be a successful endeavor in inspiring students to think innovatively and pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Prof. Deepika appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ajay Dutta, President of IIC, acknowledging the support of faculty members and the active participation of students. The event reinforced the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students.

Special Acknowledgment:

Cash prizes were awarded to the five teams that participated in the quiz competition. These prizes were generously sponsored by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department of Commerce and Economics. This gesture served as a motivational boost for students to actively participate in such competitions and strive for excellence.

Dr. Ajay Dutta(HOD, Computer Science) has organized a workshop for Computer Science Students of B.A.M Khalsa College,Garhshankar. The topic was delivered by Miss . Novedeep  Jeerh  alumni Student From Computer science Department.

The topic aimed at introducing the basics of HTML and CSS ,so as to cultivate among students an interest in the area of web designing and also to help them take their first steps in their journey as a web designing.

She Explained various formats and CSS- related topics like google fonts,Color picker, inspecting layout were introduced to the participants. She reference websites such as MDN and W3Schools,various tags and also a brief introductions to CSS.

He explained how the network is connected through this hub. He shows networking cables, switches from where the data is moving across the campus. All data is maintained by this data centre. The students were inspired by his words, as he cleared every doubt of students.

The Institution of Engineers (India) Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre organized “78th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING”.
This seminar was attended by many professors and students of different engineering colleges.

After reaching the venue, everyone has to do registration first. Refreshment was available for every participant. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra (Principal, B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar), Er. Sukhvir Singh Mundi(Chairman, The Institution of Engineers, India) along with Committee Members of Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre formally welcomed the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.

Prof. Janki Aggarwal addressed the audience about 78th annual general meeting.
After that, Ajay kumar kararh presented their presentation on evlaution from 1G to 2G. He explained everything in detail what is used in each evlaution. He explained now few states of India using the 5G technology by the end of January 2023.

After the presentation shields, tokens were giving to retired and newly appointed members.

The topic was delivered by Jagvir Kaur, a MSc (IT) first semester student from Computer Science Department. The topic aimed at introducing the basics of HTML and CSS, so as to cultivate among the students an interest in the area of web development and also to help them take their first steps in their journey as a web developer.
The students were introduced newer tags and shown how to build a more responsive website. They focused more on understanding the logic behind the various lines of code for the responsive version of website. She explained various formats and CSS-related topics like google fonts, color picker, inspecting layouts were introduced to the participants. She reference websites such as MDN and W3Schools, various tags and also a brief introduction to CSS.

After that in the end, Prof. Pawan Kumar faculty member of DCSA thanked all the students. And thanks to Jagveer Kaur, who shared her notes which she had prepared for the children.

Activity:        Speech Competition for Students to Celebrate the National Unity Day

B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar had organized the speech competition for students to celebrate the National Unity Day on 31^st October, 2022. The main objective of the celebration was to uplift the   unity and spread awareness about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to Indian history.

The National Unity Day is celebrated in India on 31^st October every year. It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary for his extraordinary work in keeping India united. This year will mark the 147^th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron Man of India.

The speech competition was held at our college premises. Many students from different streams (Arts, Commerce, Science, Computers) took participation in this competition. Some of the students delivered their speech in Punjabi language and others in English language. All the competitors delivered their speech very confidently. The audiences were highly appreciating this event as it was very informative and knowledge gaining.

At the end of the competition, (Prof.) Dr Preetinder Singh announced the winners. The third position was gained by Harpreet Kaur (a student of PGDCA, Computers Department) ,  the second position was occupied by Simran Kaur (a student of B.Sc. B.Ed. ) and the first position was won by Kritika (a student of B.Com. II Year ). Mementos were given as a prize to the winning students to appreciate and encourage their efforts.
