Celebration of National Science Day on the Theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat”

Under the management of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, celebrated National Science Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event, organized by the Faculty of Sciences and Education in collaboration with the III Society of Science Students, EEP, and IIC, was held under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera. The primary objective of this celebration was to nurture scientific temperament, foster creativity, and encourage innovative thinking among students. As part of the event, Poster Making and Poster Presentation competitions were conducted, providing a platform for young minds to showcase their scientific insights and artistic expression. In the poster presentation competition First Prize was given to Simran Kaur and Manisha of B.Sc.B.Ed. 3rd Year. The Second position was nailed by Bhavna and Swati of M.Sc.(Chemistry) 2nd Year. The third position was bagged by two teams: Komal & Taranpreet Kaur and Dheeraj Chaudhary & Himanshu Puri of B.Sc.B.Ed. 1st Year. The consolation prize was awarded to Abhinandini and Ishika Vermna of B.Sc.B.Ed. 3rd Year. In the poster making competition, First Prize was given to Kirandeep Kaur of B.Sc.(Medical) 3rd Year. The Second position was nailed by Ravi Seehra of B.Sc.(Non-medical) 3rd Year. The third position was bagged by two teams: Simran Kaur of B.Sc.B.Ed. 3rd Year and Ishika Verma of B.Sc.B.Ed. 3rd Year. The consolation prize was awarded to Jagseer of B.Sc.B.Ed. 1st Year and Shweta& Suman of B.A.B.Ed. 1st Year. The prize distribution ceremony was a moment of pride and encouragement to all participants. The distinguished presence of Prof. Lakwinderjeet Kaur, Dr. Janki Aggarwal, and esteemed faculty members from the Science and Education departments further added value to the event. The celebration of National Science Day at the college successfully instilled a spirit of scientific inquiry and aesthetic appreciation among students, reinforcing the importance of research, innovation, and creativity in shaping the future.




One Day Online Workshop on “Innovation Assesment (through Technology Readiness Level) and PMEGP”

Under the esteemed guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, the E-waste committee in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry and the Department of English under the aegis of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organised a One Day Online workshop on 22-2-2025 on the topic “Innovation Assessment through Technology Transfer Readiness Level and PMEGP (Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme).” Ms. Paramjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Computer Science Department) of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, was the key speaker of this workshop. Prof. Paramjit enriched the knowledge of students about innovation and its assessment. Also, she explained the various aspects of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP Scheme), which is a major credit-linked subsidy program aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through the establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera welcomed the keynote speaker, Ms. Paramjeet Kaur. She also encouraged the students to develop the innovative ideas and make use of various government schemes like PMEGP. Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Mr. Sahil Sharma (librarian), Ms. Poonam, and Ms. Sandeep Kaur have organised the event. This workshop was attended by around 11 faculty members and 40 students of various streams.




Powerpoint Presentation on the Topic “The Role of Chemistry in Renewable Energy”

The Department of Chemistry at B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar has been organised a one-day Powerpoint presentation in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) under the aegis of the III Society of Science Students on the topic “The Role of Chemistry in Renewable Energy” on 31st January, 2025. In the event, students from M.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Sc. (General Science), and B.Sc.B.Ed. gave their presentations. The event aimed to enhance students understanding of the significance of chemistry in sustainable development and renewable energy technologies. The students covered the various topics related to renewable sources like green chemistry, biofuels, biomass energy, solar energy etc. In this powerpoint presentation competition; Harmanpreet and Bhavya from B.Sc.B.Ed. (4th sem) nailed the 1st position. Lovepreet and Charandeep of M.Sc. Chemistry (4th sem) secured 2nd position. Sia and Payal of B.Sc.B.Ed.(2nd sem) secured 3rd position. The event was graced by the presence of worthy Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera ji. In her speech, she encouraged the students towards innovation and critical thinking in science for future research. The presentation session successfully enhanced students knowledge about renewable sources and the role of chemistry in sustainable development. In this event, 10 teaching faculty and 22 students has participated.

Workshop on “Problem Solving and Ideation”

A workshop on the topic “Problem Solving and Ideation” was organized by the Department of Chemistry of B. A. M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) under the aegis of the III-Society of Science Students. The online session was conducted on Google Meet on 29th November 2024. The workshop was attended by 19 faculty members and 42 students. The keynote speaker, Prof. Paramjit Kaur, Assistant Professor at S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, shared her insights on creative problem solving and ideation techniques. The session was organized by the teaching faculty of the Chemistry Department, Mr. Neeraj Virdi , Ms. Baldeep Kaur and Ms. Sandeep Kaur. Dr. Mukesh Sharma, HoD of the Chemistry Department, welcomed the key speaker and the participants. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from the Principal, Dr. Amandeep Heera Ji, who also motivated the students to embrace innovative thinking in their academic and professional journeys.




An Elocution/Essay Writing competition on “National Space Day”

On August 23, 2024, the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics, in collaboration with the III-Society of Science Students, celebrated a significant event: an elocution/essay writing competition on the theme of “National Space Day.” The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 27 students, showcasing their insights and creative thoughts on this important topic. The event was meticulously organized by the dedicated teaching faculty of the Physics and Chemistry departments, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all involved. Dr. Preetinder Singh delivered an insightful address on the importance of National Space Day, enriching the students’ understanding of the significance of space exploration and its impact on scientific advancement. The presence of esteemed faculty members—Dr. Manbeer Kaur, Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Virdi, and Prof. Amanpreet Kaur—added a layer of academic prestige to the occasion. Their support and involvement were instrumental in the success of the event. The celebration concluded with a poignant address by Dr. Amandeep Heera, the worthy Principal of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. Dr. Heera emphasized the critical importance of National Space Day, underscoring the value of space exploration in fostering scientific curiosity and innovation. Overall, the event was a resounding success, reflecting both the students’ enthusiasm and the dedication of the organizing faculty in highlighting the significance of space exploration.




Special Talk on “Business Plan”

A Special Talk on “Business Plan Development” was held on 2 April, 2024 under the joint organization of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Department of Chemistry. The event featured Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Innovation Ambassador of IIC, as the key speaker. This insightful session was aimed at fostering entrepreneurial thinking and equipping students with the skills to develop and present effective business plans. The event was meticulously organized by the Department of Chemistry, with the organizing committee comprising of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Virdi, Prof. Baldeep Kaur, and Prof. Anchal. The session was conducted under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Ajay Dutta, President of IIC, who provided invaluable support and guidance for the event. Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, an accomplished Innovation Ambassador, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking talk. She began by emphasizing the importance of a well-structured business plan as the foundation of any successful entrepreneurial venture. Dr. Kaur shared her vast experience in innovation and business strategy, offering practical tips on how to translate innovative ideas into viable business models. Throughout the session, Dr. Kaur discussed key components of a business plan, including market analysis, financial planning, marketing strategies, and risk management. Her insights were particularly beneficial for the students, many of whom are aspiring entrepreneurs. She also highlighted the significance of understanding the target audience and the competitive landscape while crafting a business plan. A noteworthy aspect of the event was the interactive participation of the students. They actively engaged with Dr. Kaur, sharing their ideas for various business plans. This exchange of ideas not only allowed the students to receive feedback from an expert but also encouraged collaborative thinking among their peers. Dr. Kaur appreciated the innovative spirit of the students and provided constructive suggestions to refine their business concepts. The Special Talk on Business Plan Development was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. The collaboration between IIC and the Department of Chemistry facilitated a platform for students to explore their entrepreneurial potential. The organizing committee, led by the faculty members of the Chemistry Department, deserves special recognition for their efforts in making this event a fruitful learning experience for everyone involved. This Session is well organized under the valuable guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Mukesh Sharma. Worthy Principal, Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur also encourage the faculty and the students to collaborate and organised such event for the betterment of the students.

Celebration of “National Energy Conservation Day”

National Energy Conservation Day is observed annually on 14th  December in India to raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation and efficiency. In line with this objective, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the III-Society of Science Students, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education (MGNCRE), organized an event of poster presentation on the topic “Empowering Tomorrow: Sustainable Solutions for National Energy Conservation Day” to commemorate this significant day. The event has been conducted under the guidance of Head of the Department and the teaching faculty of the Chemistry Department. The students of various classes have presented their posters to exchange their views on the concerned topic. This event was also attended by Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur (Principal), Dr. Manbeer Kaur (H.O.D lifesciences), Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur (H.O.D Mathematics), Dr. Janki Aggarwal, Dr. Mukesh Sharma (H.O.D Chemistry), Dr. Preetinder Singh (H.O.D. Physics) and all the staff members of Science and Education.
