National Science Day

The Faculty of Science and Education, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm. This year’s theme, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” inspired a series of engaging student-centered activities.

The celebration featured two key events: Poster Making and Poster Presentation. Students from B.Sc., M.Sc. (Chemistry & Mathematics), B.Sc.B.Ed. & B.A.B.Ed. actively participated, showcasing their creativity and understanding of science and innovation through visually compelling and thought-provoking posters. The poster presentation session allowed participants to explain their ideas, focusing on how scientific advancements can drive India’s growth on the global stage.

The event concluded with an insightful address by Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, who appreciated the students’ efforts and emphasized the importance of science and innovation in nation-building. Dr. Heera encouraged the youth to harness their potential and contribute meaningfully towards a Viksit Bharat.

The celebration left students inspired and motivated to pursue scientific excellence and leadership on a global scale.




Skill-In-Teaching and Best Teaching Aid Competition

On 16 January 2025, The Department of Education, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council, organized an Innovative Teaching Aid Competition at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. The event aimed to encourage future educators to develop creative and effective teaching aids that enhance the learning experience. Participants showcased various innovative teaching tools, including models and interactive charts in the subject of English, Punjabi, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. Each teaching aid was evaluated based on its originality, effectiveness, and practicality in the classroom. The winners were awarded in each subject category by the Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera in recognition of their efforts and innovative contributions. The event concluded with a motivational speech by the Principal and HoD Dr. Sangha Gurbaksh Kaur emphasizing the significance of innovation in education and the role of teachers in shaping young minds. Overall, the competition was a great success, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and experiential learning among students.




National Education Day Celebrations

The Department of Education celebrated National Education Day on 12 November 2024. On this occasion, an Inter-class Poster Presentation Competition was organised on the theme “Role of Education in Society to promote Inclusive and Quality Education.”




Visit to Govt. Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar

On 21 October 2024, first-year Students of B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. visited Government Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar, also known as School of Eminence. HoD Dr. Sangha Gubakash Kaur and Prof. Narinder Kaur accompanied the students during the visit.

 




Teachers’ Day

On 5 September 2024, Teacher’s Day was celebrated by the Department of Education. On this occasion, the students of B.A.B.Ed and B.Sc.B.Ed showed gratitude towards their teachers in the form of poetry recitation, songs, dance and speech. They also invited teachers to play games on stage and perform various activities.




Get-Together of New-Comers

On 2 September 2024, the students of B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. 4th year organized a community lunch to welcome the first-year students of the Education Department and inculcate social values among them. HoD. Dr. Sangha Gurbaksh Kaur motivated the students to live in harmony with one another by participating in such events. The seniors prepared and served dishes like dal, rice, and halwa to their juniors. Everyone enjoyed it very much.




Best out of waste competition on the occasion of “World Creativity and Innovation Day”

On the occasion of “World Creativity and Innovation Day”, the Best out of Waste competition was organized by the Department of Education and Institution’s Innovation Cell. The aim of this activity was to instil creativity among students and enable them to innovate by recycling and reusing the waste materials that are easily thrown into the bin. Realizing the theme students created beautiful and useful crafts such as wind chimes using the egg tray, snowman from waste cloth cuttings, wall hanging from pistachio nut shells and cardboards etc. The crafts created by students were very decorative and Innovative. In this competition MansiRana from B.Sc.B.Ed. III won the first position, Priya from B.A.B.Ed. II won the Second position, Riya from B.Sc.B.Ed. III and Navleen from B.A.B.Ed. I won the third position. The judgement was done by Prof. Naresh Kumari, HoD of the Education Department. In the end, Prof. Lakwinderjeet Kaur, officiating Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the students and advised them to reuse and recycle the waste material. Prizes were distributed among the winners. The event was also attended by Dr. Ajay Dutta, Coordinator IIC, Prof. Deepika, member IIC and faculty of the education department.




Speech Competition on Death Anniversary of S. Bhagat Singh

To commemorate the martyrdom of S. Bhagat Singh, a speech competition was organized by the Department of Education on March 22, 2024. The theme of this competition was the life and philosophy of S. Bhagat Singh. The aim of organizing this event was to recognize and honour the sacrifices of S. Bhagat Singh and inspire students about their fundamental duties. A total of 15 participants took part in this competition. The winner of this competition was Simran, Ishika Verma and Diljeet. The Principal of the college Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur appreciated the students and gave awards to the winners.




PowerPoint Presentation on National Science Day

A PowerPoint Competition was organised on National Science Day on 28 February, 2023 by Department of Education. The students of B.Sc and B.Sc.B.Ed. prepared and presented the PPT with great enthusiasm under the theme “Sustainable Development for Future Generation”. Dr Kuldeep Kaur and Dr Mukesh Sharma were the judges. The winners were awarded and all the participants were given participation certificates. In the end, the prize distribution function was organized in the science lawn. Prof Jaswinder Kaur, Secretary, III Science Society of Students, appreciated the students for participating enthusiastically in the events and emphasized the role of science in daily life. Prof. Lahwinderjeet Kaur, Principal (O) motivated the students to participate in such events in future.




Webinar on Role of Education in Personality Development on the occasion of International Day of Education

On 24 January 2024, the International Day of Education was celebrated by the Department of Education. On this occasion, a webinar was organized in which Dr Vikas Kumar, Associate Professor of D.A.N. College of Education for Women, Nawanshahr (SBS Nagar) was the key speaker. Prof. LakwinderjeetKaur, officiating Principal of the college, warmly welcomed the key speaker. Dr. Vikas delivered a lecture on “Role of Education in Personality Development”. In this lecture, he highlighted the changing role of Education after Covid-19. He cited the examples of great personalities and asserted that the role of education in the present era is to inculcate eroding social values among students rather than focusing only on practical knowledge. Around 80 people participated in this event. E-certificates were given to all the participants. Dr. Sangha Gurbaksh Kaur, Head of Education Department presented a vote of thanks to the key speaker of the day.
