Seminar on Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) 28th September 2024

On 28th September 2024, BAM Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Department of Commerce, organized a seminar on the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya). The event, attended by approximately 60 students, aimed to shed light on the importance and impact of the Saubhagya scheme, a significant government initiative designed to achieve universal household electrification across India. Led by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HOD, Commerce) and Dr. Gurpreet Singh (ANO), under the guidance of Commanding officer Col-Dipankar Singh and Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, the seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the scheme’s objectives, which include providing free electricity connections to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households and affordable solutions for non-BPL families. The Saubhagya scheme, launched in 2017 with a financial outlay of Rs. 16,320 crore, focuses on rural and urban electrification by ensuring infrastructure support, including the installation of energy meters, transformers, and necessary poles. The seminar also highlighted the scheme’s wide-reaching benefits, such as improving the quality of life through enhanced access to education, healthcare, and communication, and promoting economic growth by empowering small industries and businesses in rural areas. Additionally, the scheme’s social impact, particularly in reducing dependence on kerosene and enhancing public safety, was emphasized. The event concluded with a discussion on how the Saubhagya Yojana is not only bringing light to every household but also contributing significantly to India’s broader socio-economic development. The seminar was well-received, providing valuable insights into how electrification can transform lives, especially in rural communities.

This year, the campaign continues to resonate deeply, encouraging everyone to participate in this symbolic act of patriotism. In a show of dedication and national pride, the NCC cadets of BAMKC, Garhshankar actively took part in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. The cadets, under the guidance of Lt. Gurpreet Singh, played a pivotal role in spreading awareness about the importance of this initiative. They visited various local communities, encouraging residents to bring the national flag home and proudly hoist it on the occasion of Independence Day. Lt. Gurpreet Singh and Principal Amandeep Heera commended the cadets for their unwavering commitment to the campaign and their role in fostering a sense of unity and patriotism within the community. Tree Plantation Drive: ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ & ‘One Cadet One Tree’ Initiative

As part of the nationwide initiatives ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘One Cadet One Tree,’ a tree plantation drive was inaugurated at BAMKC, with great enthusiasm and purpose. This drive is aligned with the broader goal of planting five lakh trees in the lead-up to Independence Day 2024, symbolizing the commitment of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to environmental preservation and sustainability.

The drive commenced on the college campus, where Principal Amandeep Heera, and NCC In-charge Lt. Gurpreet Singh led the cadets in planting trees. Both leaders inspired the cadets, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in nurturing the environment and honoring the nurturing role of mothers, symbolized through the planting of trees.

Under the combined theme of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘One Cadet One Tree,’ cadets were motivated to extend this initiative beyond the college premises. They took up the responsibility of planting trees in their villages and surrounding areas, ensuring that the impact of this campaign reaches far and wide. This initiative not only fosters a deeper connection with nature but also raises environmental awareness among the youth, encouraging them to adopt sustainable practices.

The cadets’ active participation in this drive has been commendable, and their efforts are a testament to the spirit of service and dedication that the NCC embodies. Independence Day 15/08/2024

Independence Day was celebrated with the local government with great fervor and patriotism at Government Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar. The event was marked by various activities, with the march past by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadets being the highlight of the day. The NCC cadets, led by Rajvir Kaur, captivated the audience with their impeccable drill display. Marching to the rhythm of drum beats, the 25 cadets exhibited a high standard of discipline and precision, despite the limited duration of their training. Their flawless execution of the march and salute procedures was a testament to their dedication and hard work.

The event drew a significant number of local residents who gathered to witness the impressive performance of the cadets. The cadets’ display not only showcased their discipline but also instilled a sense of pride and patriotism among the attendees.

Lt. Gurpreet Singh and Principal Amandeep Heera praised the cadets for their outstanding participation and congratulated them on their commendable performance. Their words of encouragement served as a motivation for the cadets, recognizing the effort they had put into making the event a success.

Kargil Vijay Diwas July 26, 2023

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated at Khalsa College

Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated on 27 of august with solemnity and pride by the Ex-Servicemen Social Welfare Trust Garhshankar, in collaboration with the NCC unit of the college. The event honored the bravery and sacrifices of the Kargil martyrs.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Captain Amarjit Singh Gulpur, Subedar Kewal Singh Bajjal (General Secretary), Subedar Sukhjinder Singh Fatehpur, College Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh Bhatal (President of Shere Punjab Kisan Union Garhshankar), and other respected attendees. They collectively offered floral tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil War, paying their respects to those who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera and NCC In-charge Lt. Gurpreet Singh led the homage to the Kargil martyrs, reflecting on the significance of their sacrifice. Subedar Kewal Singh, in his tribute, shared insights into the challenging circumstances faced during the Kargil War and encouraged the students to draw inspiration from the courage and resilience of the soldiers. Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera emphasized that the safety and security of our country are owed to the unwavering dedication of Indian Army soldiers who guard the borders day and night.

The event also featured a special recognition ceremony where the Trust honored the NCC cadets for their exemplary participation and dedication. Cadet Jaspinder Kaur delivered a poignant speech, capturing the essence of Kargil Vijay Diwas and its importance in the nation’s history.

The occasion was attended by several prominent figures, including Advocate Jasvir Singh Rai, Bakhshish Singh Fatehpur Kala, Gyan Singh Golia, Sajjan Singh Dhamai, Subedar Balkar Singh Road Majara, Subedar Davinder Singh Birampur, Subedar Jarnail Singh Dhamai, Raghvir Singh Kalewal, Colonel Singh Dhamai, Paramjit Singh Babbar, along with NCC Cadet Ankit Singh and the college staff.

The event was a fitting tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil War, reminding all present of the valor and patriotism that define our nation’s armed forces.




Event: Annual Sports Day Date: 16th March 2024

On the 16th of March 2024, our college celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event kicked off with a grand march past, where the NCC cadets played a pivotal role. Dressed in their immaculate uniforms, the cadets led the parade, showcasing discipline and unity.

As the NCC cadets took to the field, they proudly raised the NCC flag, symbolizing their commitment to the nation’s values. Marching at the front, they set a tone of pride and patriotism, which resonated throughout the event. Their synchronized movements and sharp salutes were met with loud applause from the audience, reflecting the respect and admiration they commanded.

The participation of the NCC cadets in the march past was a highlight of the day, adding a sense of solemnity and grandeur to the proceedings. Their presence not only exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship but also underscored the importance of national service.

The Sports Day continued with various athletic events, where students competed with enthusiasm and sportsmanship, inspired by the cadets’ exemplary performance.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and a vote of thanks, marking the end of a memorable and successful Sports Day.

 

 




Guard of Honour 26/08/23

The two-day visit began with welcoming the NAAC Peer Team with a Guard of Honour and a gratifying salute by NCC cadets. The members of the NAAC Peer Team who arrived for Assessment and Accreditation were ceremoniously welcomed by NCC Cadets in uniform at the college’s entrance on August 26, 2023. The NAAC peer team is escorted to the arena by an officer brandishing a sword after another troop performs an NCC song.




Mega Placement Drive By DESGPC

The “Mega Placement Drive 2024,” organized by the Directorate of Education under the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, was successfully conducted on June 29, 2024, at Kalghidhar Niwas, Madhya Marg, Sector 27-B, Chandigarh. The event marked a significant milestone in the efforts to provide employment opportunities to final-year students from SGPC institutions, furthering their career prospects by connecting them with a diverse range of employers.

The placement drive witnessed the participation of a large number of students from various SGPC-affiliated institutions. Over 500 final-year students attended the event, eager to explore the career opportunities offered by the participating companies.

A total of 20 plus companies from diverse sectors, including IT, healthcare, education, finance, and manufacturing, participated in the drive. The companies ranged from well-established firms to emerging startups, all of which were looking to recruit fresh talent. Some of the prominent companies included [Tech Mahindra, Indusind Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Chd, Axis Bank, Delhi, The Future University Mohali, CS Soft Solution, Teleperformance, P&R Group, Sundram Finance, Skill lab, HDB Financial Services, Quess Coorperation Limited, ICICI Bank Solitaire Infosys Private Limited, Bajaj Insurance Company]. These organizations conducted on-the-spot interviews, group discussions, and aptitude tests as part of their selection process.

The Mega Placement Drive 2024 yielded positive results, with over 300 students short listed on the spot. Many students were selected for multiple roles, with some even receiving offers from more than one company. The remaining students were shortlisted for further rounds of interviews, which will take place in the coming weeks.

Both the participating companies and the students provided overwhelmingly positive feedback about the event. Employers praised the high caliber of the students, noting their readiness and enthusiasm for entering the professional world. Students expressed their gratitude to the SGPC and the Directorate of Education for organizing such a well-structured and impactful event, which provided them with a direct pathway to employment.

The successful execution of the Mega Placement Drive 2024 underscores SGPC’s commitment to the holistic development of its students. By organizing such events, SGPC not only enhances the employability of its students but also strengthens its reputation as a forward-thinking educational institution that prioritizes the future careers of its students.




Two Days workshop on Mock interview and Group Discussion

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of BAMKC organized a two-day workshop on “Mock Interview and Group Discussion” on 9th and 12th April 2024. The workshop was designed to prepare students for the selection processes commonly used by employers, focusing on enhancing their interview and group discussion skills.
On the first day, participants engaged in mock interviews conducted by industry professionals. The aim was to simulate real interview scenarios, allowing students to practice their responses, receive constructive feedback, and improve their performance. The session also provided insights into common interview questions, effective communication techniques, and how to make a positive impression.
The second day was centered around group discussions, a critical component of many selection processes. Students were guided on how to effectively participate in group discussions, including how to articulate their thoughts clearly, work collaboratively, and present their ideas persuasively. The session included live group discussions on various topics, with facilitators offering feedback on each participant’s performance and providing tips on how to stand out in a group setting.
The workshop was well-received by the students, who appreciated the hands-on approach and practical advice. Many participants reported feeling more confident and better equipped to face interviews and group discussions in future selection processes. The CGPC and IIC plan to continue offering such workshops to further enhance the employability skills of BAMKC students.




Two Days workshop on resume writing and mock interview

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of BAMKC organized a two-day workshop on “Resume Writing and Mock Interview” on 11th and 14th March 2024 at the BAMKC Auditorium. The workshop was aimed at preparing students for the job market by enhancing their resume writing skills and boosting their confidence through mock interviews.
On the first day, the focus was on resume writing, with industry experts guiding students on how to create a professional and tailored resume. The session covered essential components of a resume, the importance of customizing it for different job roles, and common mistakes to avoid. Participants had the opportunity to receive real-time feedback on their resumes, helping them to identify areas for improvement.
The second day was dedicated to mock interviews, simulating real-life interview scenarios. Students learned how to prepare for interviews, with a focus on behavioral interviews using the STAR technique. The session included mock interviews conducted by professionals, followed by detailed feedback, and tips on handling tough questions and improving non-verbal communication.
The workshop was well-received, with students expressing increased confidence in their ability to create effective resumes and perform well in interviews. CGPC and IIC plan to organize similar workshops in the future to further support students in their career development.
