Trip to Visit to Cremica Food Industries Ltd.

The Department of Commerce and Computer Science, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an industrial visit to Cremica Food Industries Ltd. on [Date of Visit]. A total of 50 students, accompanied by five faculty members, participated in this enriching learning experience. The visit was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Gursingh Singh Kalsi, providing students with an opportunity to gain practical insights into the food processing industry.

BCA Third Year Students Launch Startup ‘VICO’ for e-Learning and Digital Branding

Department of Computer Science and Applications is celebrating the entrepreneurial achievement of two of its BCA students, Anchal and Upasna, who have successfully launched their own company named as, Visual Intelligence of Coding (VICO).

Registered under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India, VICO is dedicated to providing e-Learning, Website Designing, and Digital Branding services. Their venture aims to blend technology and creativity, fostering innovation in the digital space.

The college’s Incubation Centre (IIC) has played a significant role in supporting and mentoring the students in their journey. Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College and Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of department of computer science and applications, extended heartfelt congratulations to Anchal and Upasna, applauding their dedication, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit.

“This achievement is an inspiration to all students, proving that with hard work and innovative thinking, young minds can shape the future of technology and business,” remarked Dr. Heera.

VICO’s launch marks a proud moment for the institution, showcasing the growing culture of startups and self-reliance among students. The entire college community wishes them great success in their entrepreneurial journey.




Quiz Competition on Cyber Security

The Department of Computer Science and applications, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a Cyber Security Quiz Competition on 12th January 2025. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about cyber security threats, enhance technical knowledge, and promote a culture of digital safety among students.

All the undergraduate and postgraduate students from various disciplines were allowed to participate in the quiz. As a result, over 40 students enthusiastically participated in this quiz competition. Many questions regarding cyber threats, security and precautions were asked from the competitive teams and Interactive Q&A sessions with the audience which enhanced the knowledge of all regarding the subject. The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes to acknowledge their efforts. Also, participation certificates were also distributed to all the other participants.

The Cyber Security Quiz Competition was a resounding success, fostering awareness about the importance of cyber hygiene. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn in an engaging manner.

The event was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of event coordinator Prof. Harpreet Kaur and team members – Prof. Kamini, Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, Prof. Priyanka Bhatia and Prof. Harjot Kaur.

The result of Bachelor’s in Computer Application (BCA) third semester has been declared on 31st  January, 2025. All the students of BCA III-Semester of Computer Science and Applications Department performed very well. The Principle of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Dr. Amandeep Heera and the Head of the Computers’ Department Dr. Ajay Dutta congratulated them and give their best wishes to all the students and especially to our Shinning Stars who secured first three positions as well as to the teachers who make them able to achieve this.

Two Days Event on “Smart India Hackathon”

On 10th September, 2024:  The Department of Computer Science and Applications of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar in Collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), has celebrated ‘Food Fest’ on the occasion of ‘Nutrition Week’ with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event has aimed to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship among students and faculty members, inspiring them to explore innovative ideas and venture into the world of business. The celebration has highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship with the use of technology.

Event Proceedings:

Day 1
On the first day of the hackathon, the students of BCA participated in this hackathon. In this event teams present their ideas through PPTs. The topic of their presentations was:
● Tourism
● Smart Education
● Disaster Management
● Smart Vehicles

The students were very enthusiastic for this event. Overall, the students felt that it was a practical activity of smart thinking. This event was organized very successfully.

Day 2

On the second day of the hackathon the students of B.Sc. participated in this hackathon. They present their ideas on the topic:
● MedTech
● Heritage & Culture
● Miscellaneous

The students were very enthusiastic for this event. Overall, the students felt that it was a practical activity of smart thinking. This event was organized very successfully. In a nutshell, the idea behind organizing this type of event is to nurture and support the students to avail the option of Entrepreneurship also. Participants expressed positive feedback, appreciating the knowledge and inspiration they gained from the hackathon.

    




An Extension Lecture on “Print & Electronic Media – Possibilities and Challenges” by News Editor of Jag Bani/Punjab Kesari Chandigarh

The Department of Computer Science and Applications, in collaboration with the Department of Languages & Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar conducted a one-day workshop on Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behavior Development on January 29th 2024.

S. Jagjeevan Meet was the keynote speaker of the workshop. He is a Sr. News Editor, Jag Bani & Punjab Kesari, Chandigarh. A workshop on “Electronic Media Skill Development” was organized with the aim of enhancing the proficiency of participants in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively.

   

This workshop focused on imparting knowledge and practical techniques relevant to the contemporary digital landscape, equipping attendees with the skills necessary for success in the electronic media industry. An expert in electronic media delivered a comprehensive presentation covering various aspects of electronic media, including social media marketing, content creation, digital advertising, and audience engagement strategies. The presentation provided participants with valuable insights into the evolving landscape of electronic media and highlighted the importance of mastering digital skills in today’s interconnected world. Real-world case studies were presented to illustrate the practical application of electronic media strategies in various contexts. By examining successful electronic media campaigns and initiatives, participants gained valuable insights into effective digital marketing techniques and content creation strategies. Hands-on activities were organized to provide participants with practical experience in using electronic media tools and platforms. Participants were given the opportunity to create and optimize content for different electronic media channels, allowing them to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the lecture.

The workshop on Electronic Media Skill Development was successful in achieving its objectives of enhancing participants’ proficiency in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively. By providing participants with valuable insights, practical techniques, and hands-on experience, the lecture has equipped them with the skills necessary to thrive in the digital age.




Diwali Celebration 2023

On 10th November 2023,  On the occasion of Diwali, ‘Diwali Celebrations’ event was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Applications in collaboration with IIC. The programme was organised under the guidance of the head of the department Dr. Ajay Dutta. Vice Principal Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh was the chief guest on this occasion. All the staff members of DCSA welcomed the chief guest and faculty members of College. Prof. Kamini guided the students for speech.

All graduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Computer Science and Applications were present in this programme. Students, named as Ms. Harpreet Kaur from BCA1, Ms. Anchal and Ms. Deeksha Thakur presented their speech and shared the importance of ‘GREEN DIWALI’. All class rooms and computer labs were decorated by their students. Students were guided by their respective Class Coordinator for decoration and rangoli making.

BCA1, BCA2, BCA3, PGDCA and MSC.IT was guided by Prof. Manpreet Singh ,Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, Prof. Ruchi, Prof. Priyanka Bhatia and Prof. Harjot Kaur respectively. Vice Principal Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh also interacted with students and congratulated the faculty members on ‘Diwali’. Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, addressed the students and blessed all the students at the event




Participation of our Students in an Inter-College IT Competition

On 2nd March, 2024 (Saturday), an Inter-College IT Competition was organized by R.K. Arya College, Nawanshahr. Our College was invited for that competition. So, three of our students participated in IT Quiz Competition and two students participated in Paper Presentation. There were many other colleges present for the competition. Our students performed very well in the competition.  One of our faculty members Prof. Priyanka Bhatia attended the competition with our participants at the competition place.
