Training Session for Registration on Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) (Dated: 23rd August, 2024)

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Economics organized a Training Session for ‘Registration on Academic Bank of Credits’ for the First year students. The event was organized under the able guidance of the Head of the Department of Commerce and Economics Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh. The speaker for this session was Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, who provided guidelines to the students for registration on Digilocker & ABC portal. He also shared some minute technicalities for the registration. 

The Principal also lauded the efforts of the IIC in organizing such a meaningful event. The event was attended by the students of department of Commerce and Economics and the faculty members of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar.




Expert Talk on the Occasion of World Entrepreneurs Day (Dated: 21st August, 2024)

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Economics of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, celebrated World Entrepreneurs Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event aimed to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship among students and faculty members, inspiring them to explore innovative ideas and venture into the world of business. The celebration highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s rapidly evolving global economy.

The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of Department of Commerce and Economics, a distinguished academician has been a guiding force in promoting entrepreneurial mindsets among young students. He discussed the challenges and opportunities that budding entrepreneurs face in the current market scenario. He encouraged the students to think innovatively and to not be afraid of failure, as it is an integral part of the entrepreneurial journey. He also shared success stories of various entrepreneurs who started with minimal resources but made a significant impact through their determination and innovative thinking. His motivational talk was well-received by the audience, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the students to explore entrepreneurial ventures. The Principal also lauded the efforts of the IIC in organizing such a meaningful event. The event was attended by the students of department of Commerce and Economics and the faculty members of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar.

PowerPoint Presentation competition on the theme “Union Budget 2024-25”

Under the aegis of Business Students’ Association (BSA), the Department of Commerce and Economics organized a PowerPoint Presentation competition on the theme “Union Budget 2024-25”. This event was very well organized under the able guidance of Prof Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HoD). IIC Coordinator Dr. Ajay Dutta, also cooperated to make this event successful. Students from B. Com. & M. Com. classes were present in this programme. This event was judged by BSA Chairperson Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Prof Gurpreet Singh Kalsi. Dr. Gurpreet Singh also shed some light on the event’s theme and congratulated all the participants. After the Announcement of the result, all participants were awarded with certificates.




Students Participation in “MegaFest – 2024”

The Social Entrepreneurship, Sawachhta & Rural Engagement Cell in collaboration with IIC, B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, hosted a MegaFest 2024. The students of Department of Commerce and Economics participated in this MegaFest, under the able guidance of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department. In this fest various stalls were installed by the students like  Juice Corner, Sprouts & Fruit Chaat Corner and Games Corner. All items were prepared by the students themselves. The students were very enthusiastic for this event. Overall, the students felt that it was a practical activity of marketing. They made profits by selling these items.  This event was organized very successfully. 




Guidance and Orientation Lecture

The Department of Commerce & Economics, B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, hosted a Guidance and Orientation Lecture for the students, under the able guidance of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department. Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh explained about the courses available in college and other competitive examinations the students can prepare. He also added that the department of Commerce & Economics is educating the students to the best under its hard-working faculty. Students can take assistance in studies from their teachers anytime. He concluded by wishing students success. Students were served tea and snacks thereafter. This event was organized very successfully. Overall, the students felt the lecture very informative.

Awareness Lecture on Dengue – Dated 06-10-2023

Under the able guidance of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HoD, Department of Commerce & Economics), an Awareness Lecture was conducted on Dengue Fever in relation to Health Care Awareness Campaign ‘Har Shukrawar Dengue Te Vaar’. On this occasion, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Health Inspector, Civil Hospital, Garhshankar, shared valuable information with the students about the preventive measures and medical treatment in case of dengue fever and how they can protect themselves from this disease by keeping the surroundings clean. After the lecture under the leadership of Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, students were formed into groups and a cleanliness survey regarding dengue was conducted in the entire college for awareness among the students.




Orientation Programme Session 2023-24

The Department of Commerce & Economics at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, hosted an orientation program. It was an orientation for incoming students who had been admitted into the BCom and MCom degrees. Business Students’ Association (BSA) under the direction of Head of Department Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh organized this event very successfully. The audience is greeted by Miss Ranjeet Kaur, President of the BSA. Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh then greets the students and explains the regulations and procedures for new students. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, BSA’s Chairperson, also talked with pupils and expressed his excitement and gratitude for choosing BAMKC as their academic home. He also shared a few thoughts and pieces of advice with them. Miss Sharandeep Kaur BCom III welcomes the newcomers to the Commerce Family after an introduction. This event featured a variety of activities such as music, dancing, and poem reading. Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi concluded by wishing new students success in the presence of the whole faculty of commerce and economics department.

 




Farewell Party 2023

A Farewell party was organised by the Department of Commerce & Economics B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar on 25th April, 2023. It was a goodbye ceremony for outgoing students of BCom and MCom. This party was very well organised under the able guidance of Head of the Department Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh. All students of BCom II, BCom III, MCom I and MCom II were present in this party. Juniors wish their seniors good luck in various forms like a welcome speech by Ranjeet Kaur and a song dedicated by Kushal Kumar Rana, for their future endeavors. Students of MCom and BCom presented very entertaining group dance, solo dance and solo song performances. Students of MCom II and BCom III participated in various activities and games. Winners of these activities were awarded with prizes. 

One special round for selection of Mr Farewell and Ms Farewell was also arranged. This round was judged by Business Students’ Association Members; Ms Ranjeet Kaur, Ms Palbi, Ms Kritika, Ms Sejal Sakia etc. Exciting games were also arranged for outgoing students like musical chairs, paper dance, What’s in the box etc. and were enjoyed by all. Ms Shikha Rani MCom II was awarded with an ‘Award of Talent’. Finally Ms Anjali  was crowned with the title of ‘Miss Farewell’ and Mr Harshdeep was awarded the title of ‘Mr Farewell’ from MCom. Ms Arshnoor Kaur was crowned with the title of ‘Miss Farewell’ and Mr. Madhav Shardha was awarded with the title of ‘Mr Farewell’ from BCom. An additional award for ‘Mr. Handsome’ was awarded to Mr Vishal Kumar of BCom III and ‘Miss Beautiful’ of this farewell was Miss Vishali of MCom II. Miss Sejal Sakia BComI was especially honored with a cheque of ₹ 11,000/- for her national level participation in the youth festival. Miss Deepti MComII was honored for the prideful moment that she secured a place in Panjab University Toppers list. Miss Avneet Kaur was also honored with the award for securing a position in NPTEL course in which she got Elite+Silver Certificate. In the end Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, head of the Department of Commerce and Economics proposed a vote of thanks and wished good luck to the students of MCom II and BCom III for their future and appreciated the efforts of Junior classes. He also expressed his hope that students will continue holding top positions in the university. He also congratulated the whole faculty of the Department of Commerce and Economics for organising such a wonderful farewell. All faculty members of the department and other departments were also present in this farewell.
