Department of Computer science and Applications organised Ultimate Typing Championship in Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College,Garhshankar.This competition is organise offline in Department of Computer Science & Apllications.In this competition students from various departments of  college participated in it.

Prof.Kamini is Co-Ordinator of this Competition.

Students of various classes take part in this competion and competion is done online in typing master.

The Institute’s Innovation Council, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Application at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, hosted an inspiring guest lecture on November 25th, 2023. The workshop, titled “Entrepreneurship and innovation as career Opportunity” aimed to understand the basics of Entrepreneurship and its importance in modern society.

Objectives Of the Workshop

  • To stimulate the overall architecture of the Entrepreneurship Life cycle and how students can create innovative product by undertaking relevant

The distinguished speaker for the day was Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh( HOD) of Department of Commerce and Economics shared with us  views.

One-Week Workshop on “Computer Literacy – Work Smarter Using MS Office Tools”

The Department of Computer Science and Applications has organized a One-Week Workshop on “Computer Literacy – Work Smarter Using MS Office Tools”.  The Commencement of workshop was on 11th September, 2023  till  16th September, 2023 (From Monday to Saturday). The venue was Computers’ Lab and the time was at 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM.

The resource persons, who conducted this workshop, were Prof. Priyanka Bhatia and Prof. Harjot Kaur. The Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications Prof. Dr. Ajay Dutta delivered the opening speech and addressed the students regarding the usefulness of knowing these tools in different sectors of career field. On first three days, students were taught about MS Excel formulas and different types of functions, creating charts and Google Sheets. On last three days, students increased their knowledge, theoretically as well as practically, about MS Word and other word processing tools. All the basic as well advanced level information have been provided to the students like Proper page setup, alignment, border, tables, diagrams, sorting, find and replace, mail merge, macros etc.

Around 50 students have gained knowledge from this workshop. This workshop was open for students of different streams like PGDCA(first semester), B.A.(first semester), B.Sc.(first semester), 11th and 12th.  The feedback of students regarding this workshop was very positive.

 




Webinar On “Cyber Crimes & Security”

On 19th August, 2023. The department of Computer Science and Applications of B.A.M. Khalsa college, Garhshankar has organized a webinar on “Cyber Crime & Security” at 10:00 A.M. The Resource Person of this webinar was Prof. Jessy Julian from Trinity College, Jalandhar. The Moderator of this webinar, Prof. Priyanka Bhatia, has started this program. Afterwards, the Principal Madam Prof. Lakhwinder Jeet Kaur gave a warm welcome speech to the Guest speaker Prof. Jessy Julian.

The resource person shared her valuable information and expertise knowledge with the audience. She makes students aware about different cyber-crimes, how it occurs, what precautions people should take to prevent it and different security measures.  All the students as well as faculty members attended this webinar. This session was a successful one as many students actively participated in it and asked their queries from the speaker.

At the end, the HOD of Computer Science and Applications Department Dr. Ajay Dutta delivered a vote of thanks to Prof. Jessy Julian for her precious time to make our student aware about “Cyber Crimes & Security”.




Two days Workshop on Professional Website Designing using WordPress

On 5th April, 2023:   The Department of Computer Science and Applications has organized two days’ workshop on Professional Website Designing by using WordPress. Many students registered for this program. This workshop was conducted by head of the department of computer science and applications Dr. Ajay Dutta. The whole program was co-ordinated by Er. Priyanka Bhatia.

The workshop started at 11:30 A.M. in Computers Lab till 2:00 P.M. In this workshop, students gained the theoretical knowledge about the subject first and then implemented this practically on computers. Many students asked their doubts from the speaker and got the best answers. Everyone made their own small websites using sub-domain at WordPress.

We got very good response of this workshop as the students got valuable information. Next day on 6th April 2023, they have also learned about relevant online tools and strategies.




Speech Competition To Commemorate Martyrs’ Day 2023

Every year on March 23, is observed as Martyrs Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas as a tribute to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru.  The trio fought for the freedom of India from the British rulers and sacrificed their lives on 23rd March, 1931.

An event of speech competition was organized on 22nd March,2023 at 11:00 A.M. in Computers Lab for students to make them aware of the day. Many students participated in this event and delivered speeches in Punjabi, Hindi and English languages. All the speeches delivered by the students raised the information level of everyone. Though everyone did their best, but among all, three were secured first, second & third positions. Jatinder Kaur (M.Sc. IT) secured first position, Harpreet Kaur (PGDCA) was the second and Simran Deep Singh stood third.

At the end, the whole venue was filled with the emotions of love towards our Nation “India” and our freedom fighters. Also, students started chanting slogans of  “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.

This event was co-ordinated by Prof. Priyanka Bhatia.

“Research Methodology and Practices” Workshop

The two-days Workshop on “Research Methodology and Practices” was organized by the joint efforts of the Department of Computers Science & Applications, and the Department of Commerce & Economics on 23rd Feb to 24th Feb, 2023 at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The venue of the workshop was Seminar Hall of Commerce Department. The resource person of this workshop was Dr. Harjeet Kaur, Assistant Professor in Economics. Dr. Preetinder Singh was the moderator on the first day of workshop. He introduced the key speaker with the audience. This workshop was started with the welcome speech of Dr. Ajay Dutta (Head of Department of Computer Science & Applications). He welcomed all the participants present there, and the honorable Principal Prof. Jaspal Singh.

Dr. Harjeet Kaur started her lecture with a PPT on Research Methodologies. She thoroughly discussed the research process, methods used and also put some light on the technicalities of a research. All graduate and post graduate students of both Departments were present in this program. On the second day the moderator was Prof. Navdeep Singh. Dr. Harjeet Kaur discussed the research paper, how to write a research paper, steps to be followed and things to be considered while writing a research paper. This workshop was closed with the Principal’s Speech. Prof. Jaspal Singh addressed the audience and also congratulated both departments for successful completion of this workshop. The key speaker, Dr. Harjeet Kaur, was honoured with a certificate. At the end Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (Head of Department of Commerce) presented a vote of thanks to the audience.
