National Youth Day

On 12 January 2024, National Youth Day was celebrated by the Department of Education in collaboration with SESREC, IIC and NSS under the guidelines of the National Community Engagement Academic Network. On this occasion, an Essay Writing Competition was organized on the topics “Empowering Youth for Social Change”, “Youth Volunteerism and Community Service” and “The Role of Youth in Nation Building”. This competition was organized to develop critical thinking among students regarding the role of youth in community welfare and how they can be a part of the future of nation-building. A total of twenty-five students participated in this competition. Besides this, an activity of community engagement was also held. In this activity, students were informed to spend at least half an hour with their grandparents or any other elderly person in their community and learn from their experiences. While engaging with elderly persons, students interviewed them, and made recordings and video clips of those interviews. Around fifteen students participated in this event.




Skill-In-Teaching and Best Teaching Aid Competition

The Department of Education organized two competitions namely, Skill–In- Teaching Competition and the Best Teaching Aid Competition for the 8th-semester students to inculcate teaching skills among them and prepare them for their Internship Programme of 16 weeks. These competitions were held in Teaching of Punjabi, Teaching of English, Teaching of Mathematics, Teaching of Social Studies and Teaching of Science. Students participated enthusiastically in these competitions and prepared the most appropriate teaching aids. Prof. LakhwinderjeetKaur, Principal(O) distributed trophies among winners.




Visit to Govt. High School Pojewal

As per the curriculum of B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed., the Department of Education organised a School visit to Government High School, Pojewal on November 21, 2023. The purpose of this visit was to acquaint the students with various components of the school plant and enable them to perform a SWOT Analysis of the school. Around 35 students, along with two teachers visited the school and gained valuable knowledge. They interviewed the Principal of the School Mr. Harkesh Lal Mundan, staff members and the students from various classes to seek information of school strength, timetable, basic facilities and other important aspects of school.




Diwali Celebration

On 10 November, 2023 Diwali was celebrated by the Department of Education with pomp and show. On this occasion, Diya Decoration and card-making competitions were organized. Students participated enthusiastically in these events. In Divya decoration first, second and third position was bagged by Priyanka (B.A.B.Ed-III), Priya(B.A.B.Ed.-II) and Saniya (B.Sc.B.Ed.-I) respectively. Similarly in card making competition first position was bagged by Kirandeep (B.Sc.B.Ed.-III), second position by Diksha (B.Sc.B.Ed.-III),  and Poonam Rani (B.A.B.Ed.-II)  and third position by Simran (B.Sc.B.Ed.-II),. The winners were given prizes as a token of appreciation. Prof. Kiranjot Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Education appreciated the students’ creativity and motivated them to celebrate clean and green Diwali.




Teacher’s Day Celebration

The Department of Education celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5 September 2023. On this occasion, the students of B.A.B.Ed and B.Sc.B.Ed showed gratitude to their teachers through poetry recitation, songs, dance, and speech. They also invited teachers to play games on stage and perform various activities. At last, the officiating Principal, Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, addressed the students and gave them best wishes.




Plantation in Campus

 

On 14 August 2023, a plantation drive was launched in the college campus. Students planted saplings for the coming winter season.




Community Lunch for First Year Students

A community Lunch was organized by the students of B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed. 4th Year to welcome the first-year students of the Education Department.




Quiz Competition

On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, an online quiz competition was organised by the Department of Education in collaboration with National Service Scheme on 14 April, 2022. The questions in the quiz highlighted the life history of Dr. Ambedkar and the contribution he has made to the Indian Constitution . Around 150 students from different schools and college participated in the quiz. The HoD of the department appreciated the students’ efforts and congratulated the winners. The Principal of the college Dr. Baljit Singh motivated the students to participate in such events in future and choose the right path following the teachings of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.




SWOT Analysis of School

As per curriculum of B.A.B.Ed. and B.Sc.B.Ed., a School visit to Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Garhshankar was organised on January 23, 2023 by Department of Education. The purpose of this visit was to aquaint the students with various components of school plant and enable them to perform SWOT Analysis of the school. Around 35 students, along with two teachers visited the school and gained the valuable knowledge.




PowerPoint Competition on Science Day

A PowerPoint Competition was organised on National Science Day on 28 February, 2023 by Department of Education. The students of B.Sc and B.Sc.B.Ed. prepared and presented the PPT on the theme “Global Science and Global Well being”. Out of the various teams, 3 winners were selected and given Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively. All the participants and winners were given certificates of participation. At the end, the Principal Prof. Jaspal Singh motivated the students to participate in such events in future.
