Three Day English Workshop Open for All Streams.

 

Under the guidance of Principal, Dr Amandeep Heera, Department of English has organized a Three-Day Workshop on “English Vocabulary and Idiom Skills” from 10 March to 12 March, beginning 1:00 PM onwards each day. The workshop is open to all college students and aims to enhance their vocabulary, strengthen their understanding of idiomatic expressions, and improve their overall communication skills in English.

The workshop commenced today, 10 March, with the objective of helping students develop a richer vocabulary and gain practical knowledge of commonly used idioms in English. The sessions are designed to introduce students to a variety of words, phrases, and idiomatic expressions that are widely used in both spoken and written communication.

Through interactive activities such as vocabulary exercises, language games, group discussions, and contextual learning, students are being encouraged to actively participate and practice the usage of idioms in real-life communication. The workshop also focuses on improving students’ confidence in speaking and writing English effectively.

Students from different streams of the college have shown enthusiastic participation in the programme. The initiative by the Department of English aims to create a supportive learning environment where students can develop stronger language skills and expand their command of English vocabulary.

The workshop will continue until 12 March, and it is expected to provide participants with valuable insights and practical strategies for enhancing their English language proficiency.




Dept of English, in collaboration with NLD organised a seven day FDP

 

The Department of English, in collaboration with the Nucleus of Learning and Development (NLD), organized an Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Mythical Drama and Archetypes.” The programme was conducted from 19 February to 25 February, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM each day.

The FDP aimed to explore the significance of myth and archetypal patterns in dramatic literature. The programme focused on how mythical narratives, symbols, and universal archetypes influence the structure of drama, characterization, and thematic interpretation across various literary traditions. It provided participants with an opportunity to understand the relevance of mythological frameworks and archetypal criticism in the study of drama.

The resource persons for the programme included Arati Kumari Thakur, Assistant Professor at AP College Sujjanpur Tira, Jaipur, and Deepa S. J., Assistant Professor at SCS Jain Deemed to be University. Both speakers delivered insightful lectures highlighting the presence of mythological motifs and archetypal figures in drama and literature. Their sessions emphasized how recurring archetypes such as the hero, the mentor, and the quest narrative shape dramatic storytelling and enhance literary interpretation.

The programme was coordinated by Assistant Professor Ritu Singh and Assistant Professor Navdeep Singh, who ensured the smooth organization and effective conduct of the sessions. The programme was organized under the convenership of the Principal, Amandeep Heera, whose guidance and encouragement contributed significantly to the successful completion of the programme.

The FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students from various institutions across the country. Each session concluded with interactive discussions, enabling participants to engage with the speakers and exchange ideas related to myth, archetypes, and dramatic traditions.

The programme concluded on 25 February with a vote of thanks to the resource persons, participants, and organizing team. The FDP proved to be academically enriching and offered valuable insights into the continuing relevance of mythological narratives and archetypal patterns in the study of drama and literature.




Dept of English in Collaboration with IQAC & Indian Knowledge System Cell organised Online National FDP

 

Under the Guidance of Principal Dr Heera, Department of English, in collaboration with the IQAC and the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell, organized an Online National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Lokasangraha Model of Development: Insights from the Approach of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar.” The programme was conducted from 15 December to 20 December 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM each day.

The FDP aimed to explore the concept of Lokasangraha—a philosophical idea rooted in Indian knowledge traditions that emphasizes collective welfare, social responsibility, and ethical leadership. Through this programme, the organizers sought to connect traditional Indian wisdom with contemporary models of development and governance. The sessions focused on the life and administrative vision of Ahilyabai Holkar, whose governance is often celebrated for its compassion, justice, and people-centric policies.

The resource person for the FDP was Pallavi Joshi, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Management, FMS-WISDOM, Banasthali Vidyapith. Dr. Joshi delivered insightful lectures highlighting the relevance of the Lokasangraha model in contemporary socio-economic development. She elaborated on the visionary leadership of Ahilyabai Holkar, illustrating how her governance promoted welfare, infrastructure development, justice, and cultural patronage while maintaining a deep commitment to public service.

Throughout the six days, participants engaged with themes such as ethical governance, community welfare, indigenous knowledge systems, and the application of traditional Indian philosophies in modern policy frameworks. Dr. Joshi provided historical perspectives along with practical examples, encouraging participants to rethink development models from the standpoint of inclusive growth and social harmony.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students from various institutions across the country. Interactive discussions and question-answer sessions at the end of each lecture enabled participants to engage deeply with the subject and share their perspectives.

The FDP concluded on 20 December 2025 with a note of appreciation for the resource person and all participants. The organizers expressed hope that the programme would inspire educators and scholars to further explore Indian knowledge traditions and integrate them into academic discourse and research.

The programme proved to be intellectually enriching and successfully highlighted the timeless relevance of the Lokasangraha philosophy and the exemplary leadership model of Ahilyabai Holkar in shaping a welfare-oriented vision of development.
