Poster Presentation Competition with theme “Empowering Indian youth for global leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat”

On Feb, 28 National Science Day was celebrated by the Department of Science and Education in collaboration with the III Society of Science Students, EEP, and IIC at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar. In which Poster Presentation Competition with theme “Empowering Indian youth for global leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat” was organized by Physics Department.The main objectives of this celebration were to develop students’ scientific temperament, inventiveness, and innovative thinking. Young minds were given the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic expression and scientific ideas through competitions for Poster Presentation.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on the same day. The distinguished presence of Dr. Amandeep Heera, Prof. Lakwinderjeet Kaur, Dr. Janki Aggarwal, and esteemed faculty members from the Science and Education departments further added value to the event. The celebration of National Science Day at the college successfully instilled a spirit of scientific inquiry and aesthetic appreciation among students, reinforcing the importance of research, innovation, and creativity in shaping the future.




Birth Anniversary of Great Physicist Michael Faraday

The Department of Physics of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar celebrated “Birth Anniversary of Great Physicist Michael Faraday” by organizing a Quiz Competition on September 28, 2024. The quiz was comprising of six rounds with questions based on physics. Total six teams, with 3 students in each, participated and winners were given prizes and certificates to all participants. Prof. Bandana Devi began the program with brief introduction to the life of Physicist Michael Faraday. The quiz master Prof. Amanpreet conducted the quiz in an interesting way to keep the morale of participants and audience high whole time. Around 45 Students and 8 Faculty members were present. Our Honorable Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera gave away the prizes to the winners and motivated all the students to participate in every competition and excel in their future endeavors.




MODEL/PROJECT PRESENTATION ON FEBRUARY 28, 2024

On Feb 28, 2024, on the occasion of “National Science Day” a Model/Project presentation competition was organised by the Physics Department at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. This activity aimed to cultivate the students’ scientific, inventive, and creative mindset. A total of 30 students from the science and education stream participated in this activity. The students presented about 6 to 7 topics. Each team presented its Model or project to the judges. The result of this activity was announced on the same day, and then prizes were distributed.

CHANDRAYAAN-3 POSTER PRESENTATION ON AUGUST 19, 2023

On Aug 19, 2023, on the occasion of the “Smooth Landing of CHANDRAYAAN- 3” a poster presentation competition was organised by Physics Department at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. The objective of this activity was to develop in students an innovative, creative, and scientific mindset. There were a total of 25 students from the science stream who participated in this activity. About 8 to 9 topics were presented by the students. Each team presents their poster to the judges. The result of this activity was announced on the same day, and after that, prizes weredistributed.




Model/Project Presentation on National Science Day February 28, 2023

On Feb 28, 2023, a ‘Global Science for Global wellbeing carnival’ was conducted by Science and Education Department on the occasion of ‘National Science day’ at B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar. The Physics Department organized a Model/Project Presentation Competition on this special occasion. The goal of this activity was to build in students a scientific temperament, innovation, and creativity. There were a total of 7 teams made up of students from the science stream that participated in this activity. Each team shows the judges their project or model.
At the end of the event, our respected Principal Prof. Jaspal Singh gave a lecture and discussed the impact of science on the world. After that results were announced and prizes were distributed among students.




Quiz and Poster Presentation on the Birth Anniversary of Great Scientist Michael Faraday September 22, 2022

On 22/Sep /2022, the Birth Anniversary of the Great Scientist “Michael Faraday” was celebrated by the Department of Physics, B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar. On this Special occasion, Quiz and Poster Presentation competitions were organized. Quiz was based on General Science and concepts of Physics. For the Poster Presentation, there were some topics such as ‘Life and Times of Michael Faraday’, ‘Experimental Devices’, ‘Evolution of Universe’, ‘Nuclear Reactor and Detector’& ‘Communication’. The motive of the competition was to gain knowledge about Physics. Around 40 Students participated in these activities. The result of these activities was announced on the same day and after that prizes were distributed.

Celebration of “National Science Day” on 28 February, 2022

An activity on the “National Science Day” on February 28, 2022, has been organized by the Physics department, B.A.M. Khalsa college, Garhshankar. National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28th February throughout India in memory of scientist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman who won the Noble prize for the discovery of the Raman effect. Dr. Preetinder Singh, Prof. Deepshikha, Prof. Amanpreet Kaur, Prof. Neha Rana, and Prof. Manpreet Singh were the Members of the Organizing Committee. The main aim of this celebration is to share the importance of science and inculcate scientific temperament among the students through quizzes, lectures, fun games, competitions, and showing experiments.

 




Webinar on Alpha-Decay half lives on February 11, 2021

On 11th February 2021, a webinar on “Alpha-Decay Half liveswas organized by the Physics department, B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar. In this webinar, our key speaker was Dr. Harjeet Kaur, Assistant professor in Physics at GNDU, Amritsar. The webinar was conducted at a Google meeting. There were above 90 Participants in this webinar.

At about 11:00 a.m. webinar starts with the opening remarks including an introduction to Nuclear Physics and technologies. After that Dr. Harjeet kaur discussed the agenda of the said webinar and told us how discoveries in Nuclear Physics are the basis of life-saving technologies such as radiotherapy, cancer research, medical imaging, and smoke detectors. She also discussed how alpha decay could treat serious diseases like cancer.

Afterward, the Webinar ended with the question-and-Answer series. It ends at about 12:00 p.m. on the same day.

B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar had organized the speech competition for students to celebrate the National Unity Day on 31st October, 2022. The main objective of the celebration was to uplift the   unity and spread awareness about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to Indian history.

 

The National Unity Day is celebrated in India on 31st October every year. It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary for his extraordinary work in keeping India united. This year will mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron Man of India.

 

The speech competition was held at our college premises. Many students from different streams (Arts, Commerce, Science, Computers) took participation in this competition. Some of the students delivered their speech in Punjabi language and others in English language. All the competitors delivered their speech very confidently. The audiences were highly appreciating this event as it was very informative and knowledge gaining.

 

At the end of the competition, (Prof.) Dr Preetinder Singh announced the winners. The third position was gained by Harpreet Kaur (a student of PGDCA, Computers Department) ,  the second position was occupied by Simran Kaur (a student of B.Sc. B.Ed. ) and the first position was won by Kritika (a student of B.Com. II Year ). Mementos were given as a prize to the winning students to appreciate and encourage their efforts.
