The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, proudly celebrated National Technology Day on 12th May 2025. The event was held in the SMART Room of the college and commenced at 11:00 AM.

The session was graced by the esteemed speaker, Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, IIC Innovation Ambassador, who shared his insightful perspectives on innovation and the role of technology in shaping the future. His engaging talk emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of innovation in higher educational institutions and highlighted the initiatives undertaken by IIC to promote technological advancements among students and faculty.

The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Ajay Dutta, President of IIC, and Prof. Deepika, Convener of IIC, who ensured the smooth execution of the program. Their efforts were instrumental in coordinating with the resource person and encouraging student participation.

Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the college, lauded the efforts of the IIC team and emphasized the need for organizing such events to motivate students toward innovation and research in science and technology.

The celebration of National Technology Day served as a platform to inspire and inform the college community about the significance of technology in nation-building and individual development. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of all involved in making the event a success.




IIC Mentoring Program for Adopted Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) School

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College successfully conducted a mentoring session aimed at educating students about emerging career opportunities. The session delivered by IIC President Dr. Ajay Dutta, who mentored the students of Jalandhar Public School.

The session began with a motivational keynote address by S. B.S. Bedi, which inspired students and set a positive tone for the program. The discussion focused on the evolving landscape of education policies and emphasized the importance of developing critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

To spark enthusiasm among the students, visual presentations highlighted the achievements of young entrepreneurs and patent holders. The importance of establishing Idea Clubs in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) was also proposed, emphasizing the value of mentor-guided innovation.

Special thanks were extended to Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera for her invaluable support in ensuring the smooth execution of the awareness session.




Workshop on Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Startups

The Department of Commerce of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organized a ‘Workshop on Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Startups’. The event was aimed by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to motivate and educate the students about the startups. 

The key speaker, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, who has been a guiding force in motivating startup mindsets among young students, shared the step by step guide for a successful startup in the present scenario. He also discussed various startups, doing their best around the region. His motivational talk was well-received by the audience, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the students.

The event was attended by the students and faculty of the Department of Commerce. The Principal also lauded the efforts of the IIC and the Department of Commerce in organizing such a meaningful event.




BCA Students of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, Shine at Regional Conference on Advances in Technology, Innovation, and Management

The students of Babbar Akali Memorial (B.A.M.) Khalsa College, Garhshankar, made a remarkable impact at the Two-Day Regional Conference on “Advances in Technology, Innovation, and Management” organized by J.D.C. Bytco Institute of Management Studies & Research, Nashik.

The BCA students presented their research papers at this prestigious platform, and their contributions were officially published, highlighting their academic excellence and innovative research.

The following students showcased their research work:

Deeksha Thakur presented her paper on “Impact of Search Engines and AI-based Content Creation Platforms on National and Personal Security.”

Mannat and Diksha collaborated on a research paper titled “Augmented and Virtual Reality in E-Commerce: A Path to Enhanced Consumer Engagement.”

Anchal and Upasna authored a paper on “Cybersecurity Challenges in the Digital Age: Personal and National Threats from Data Sharing,”

under the expert guidance of Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of the Computer Science Department.

This achievement is a testament to the strong research culture nurtured at B.A.M. Khalsa College under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera. Congratulating the students, Dr. Heera expressed his pride in their dedication and emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation and research excellence.

These accomplishments highlight the college’s focus on empowering students with cutting-edge knowledge and research capabilities, paving the way for their bright academic and professional futures.




Inauguration of Augmented & Virtual Reality Bootcamp

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Career Guidance and Placement Cell, and the Department of Computer Science at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Chandigarh, proudly inaugurated the Augmented & Virtual Reality Bootcamp on February 28th, 2025. This bootcamp, conducted under the FutureSkills PRIME Scheme, aims to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in AR/VR technologies and game development.

The inaugural session commenced in the esteemed presence of Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the College, who extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. He emphasized the significance of emerging technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in revolutionizing industries and creating new career opportunities for students.
Dr. Sarwan Singh, Joint Director, NIELIT, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the increasing demand for AR/VR applications in various sectors, including gaming, healthcare, education, and entertainment. He encouraged students to leverage this bootcamp as a stepping stone for developing industry-relevant skills.
The event was also graced by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HOD, Commerce Department), Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi and Prof. Deepika (Convener, IIC). Dr. Ajay Dutta (President, IIC) also addressed the audience, discussing the role of AR/VR technologies in fostering technical proficiency among students.


The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, expressing gratitude to Dr. Sarwan Singh and his team members Mr. Lovnish Verma and Mr. Nikshep Paliwal and all attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
This five-day bootcamp (March 3 – March 7, 2025) is expected to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge, fostering innovation and skill development in AR/VR technologies.

 




Webinar on ‘SEBI Education Initiative’ on 24th January, 2025

The Department of Commerce & Economics with the support of BSA and the Department of Computer Science & Applications, in collaboration with the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, successfully organized a webinar on the ‘SEBI Financial Education Initiative’ on January 24, 2025. This insightful session was sponsored by Edufinn SEBI Smart Organisation.  

The event was conducted under the expert guidance of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh (HoD), Dr. Ajay Dutta (IIC President), and Prof. Deepika (IIC Convener). The webinar aimed to create awareness about personal finance, educate participants on investing and stock market risks, and explore career opportunities in financial services.  

The resource person for this session was Ms. Vani Kamath, a certified NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets) Trainer, who provided valuable insights into investment strategies and the financial ecosystem.  

Students from B.Com., M.Com., and BCA actively participated, along with esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur, Prof. Kamini, Prof. Shivani, Prof. Deepti, and Prof. Ankush. Their enthusiastic involvement contributed significantly to the event’s success, fostering an engaging and collaborative learning environment.  

This webinar marked an important step in equipping students and faculty with practical knowledge to navigate the financial sector confidently.

 




One Day Workshop on Digital Marketing on November 13, 2024

The Department of Commerce and Economics at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in partnership with the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) and under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, organized an impactful one-day workshop on Digital Marketing on November 13, 2024. Organized under the guidance of HoD Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, IIC President Dr. Ajay Dutta, and IIC Convener Prof. Deepika, the event engaged both students and faculty in an immersive exploration of the latest digital marketing trends.

The workshop’s keynote address, delivered by Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, captivated attendees with a dynamic presentation on modern digital marketing strategies.

Esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur, Prof. Deepika, and Prof. Ankush, actively participated, further enhancing the event’s success and contributing to a collaborative learning environment.

 




One Day Workshop on Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and its importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs

The Department of Commerce and Economics at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), held a one-day workshop titled “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and Its Importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs” on 11 November 2024. This impactful event was organized under the insightful leadership of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of Commerce, and Dr. Ajay Dutta, President of the IIC, with the goal of inspiring students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and safeguard their innovations through intellectual property protection.

The program began with a warm welcome by Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the College, who commended the Department of Commerce and IIC for organizing such a forward-thinking event. She highlighted the essential role of Intellectual Property (IP) in fostering creativity and driving growth within the business world.

The workshop’s keynote speaker, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur, delivered an enlightening presentation on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), discussing its significance, various types, and the legal protections that safeguard these rights.

The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished faculty members Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, Prof. Deepti, and Prof. Ankush from the Department of Commerce and Economics.

Students actively engaged in the workshop, gaining practical insights into IP registration and enforcement, making the experience both educational and hands-on.

The workshop concluded as a resounding success, achieving its goal of enhancing participants’ understanding of IP rights and their invaluable role in today’s economy.




National Startup Day Celebration- 2025

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Computer Science, celebrated National Startup Day on 16th January 2025 at 9:15 AM in the college’s Smart Room. The event aimed to foster entrepreneurial spirit among students and provide them with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas.

Event Highlights:

The program began with a welcome address by . Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department of Commerce and Economic. Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of the college, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the significance of startups in economic development.

The stage proceedings were gracefully managed by Prof. Gurjinder Kaur and Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, who ensured the smooth flow of the program.

Student Activities:

To engage students and encourage their active participation, the following activities were organized:

  1. PPT Presentation: Students presented their innovative startup ideas and business plans through visually engaging presentations.
  2. Speech Competition: Participants delivered speeches on topics related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup culture.
  3. Quiz Competition: A quiz was conducted to test the entrepreneurial knowledge of the students, focusing on startup terminologies, successful entrepreneurs, and government initiatives.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, showcasing their creativity and critical thinking.

 

Conclusion:

The celebration of National Startup Day proved to be a successful endeavor in inspiring students to think innovatively and pursue entrepreneurial ventures. Prof. Deepika appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ajay Dutta, President of IIC, acknowledging the support of faculty members and the active participation of students. The event reinforced the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among its students.

Cash prizes were awarded to the five teams that participated in the quiz competition. An Extension Lecture on “Print & Electronic Media – Possibilities and Challenges” by News Editor of Jag Bani/Punjab Kesari Chandigarh

The Department of Computer Science and Applications, in collaboration with the Department of Languages & Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar conducted a one-day workshop on Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behavior Development on January 29th 2024.

S. Jagjeevan Meet was the keynote speaker of the workshop. He is a Sr. News Editor, Jag Bani & Punjab Kesari, Chandigarh. A workshop on “Electronic Media Skill Development” was organized with the aim of enhancing the proficiency of participants in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively.

   

This workshop focused on imparting knowledge and practical techniques relevant to the contemporary digital landscape, equipping attendees with the skills necessary for success in the electronic media industry. An expert in electronic media delivered a comprehensive presentation covering various aspects of electronic media, including social media marketing, content creation, digital advertising, and audience engagement strategies. The presentation provided participants with valuable insights into the evolving landscape of electronic media and highlighted the importance of mastering digital skills in today’s interconnected world. Real-world case studies were presented to illustrate the practical application of electronic media strategies in various contexts. By examining successful electronic media campaigns and initiatives, participants gained valuable insights into effective digital marketing techniques and content creation strategies. Hands-on activities were organized to provide participants with practical experience in using electronic media tools and platforms. Participants were given the opportunity to create and optimize content for different electronic media channels, allowing them to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the lecture.

The workshop on Electronic Media Skill Development was successful in achieving its objectives of enhancing participants’ proficiency in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively.
