One day National conference on “Methods and Challenges to Harvest Water for Sustainable Development” Sponsored by College Development Council P.U.Chandigarh organised by Department of life Sciences on 15/02/2023. Dr. kuldeep kaur was organising secretary of the conference.Dr. M,S.Saini Key note speaker ,Dr.Balwinder Singh Lakhiwale and Gurmukh Sngh were the resource persons. In this conference Different Method of water harvesting were explained with practical and live examples.
110 participants attended the conference.

Babbar Akali Khalsa College Garhshankar under the Management of Shiromni Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Affiliated to Panjab university Chandigarh, Department of Life Sciences B.A.M Khalsa College Garhshankar Celebrated “World Wetland Day “by organizing a visit to Ropar wetland on 2/02/2023. This educational visit was organized under the supervision of DFO wildlife Ropar. Expert lecture on migratory birds and conservation of wetland was also arranged by the department to aware the students. Overall visit was very informative.

Babbar Akali Khalsa college Garhshankar under the Management of Shiromni Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee organised On 30th January 2023 One Day Workshop cum training on “Fabric tie and dye for entrepreneurial setup” Prof Jatinder Kaur ( Home Science) Life Sciences department of B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar under the guidelines of S E S R E cell. Main motive of this workshop was to train students to start their own small scale entrepreneur. Many students took part in this training and show their great enthusiasm. Students were happy
to have a skill to start their new setup and become earning hand for sustainability.

Workshop on “Plant Sampling Techniques for Startup” 9/12/2022
The Greenery(Campus) committee under SOCIAL ENTERPRENEURSHIP, SWACHHTA & RURAL ENGAGEMENT CELL (SES REC) in collaboration with I.IC. of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar has organised a workshop on “Plant Sampling Techniques for Startup” on 09/12/2022 at 10.30 a.m. in the back ground of the college. This workshop has been organized by the cell according to the instructions of Ministry of Education & Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the guidance of college principal Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra Ji. In the workshop the teaching faculty of Department of Life Sciences & Chemistry were present. The participating students were of Intermediate classes of B.A.M. Khalsa Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Garhshankar. In the workshop the gardener of the college, Mr. Nikku Ram has made aware the students on “How to fill the soil in the pots for plant sampling, How to make the composition of the soil to be filled in the pots and How to sample a plant in the pots.” The workshop was found to be very beneficial for the students.

The SOCIAL ENTERPRENEURSHIP, SWACHHTA & RURAL ENGAGEMENT CELL (SES REC) of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar has organised an introductory lecture on “Promoting Social Enterpreneurship Swachhta & Rural Engagement” on 24/11/2022 at 2.00 p.m. in the seminar room of the college. This lecture has been organized by the cell according to the instructions of Ministry of Education & Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the guidance of college principal Dr. Baljit Singh Ji Khehra. the lecture was delivered by the co-ordinator of the cell, Dr. Manbeer Kaur. All the teaching faculty of B.A.M. Khalsa College were present. Approximately, around 58 teaching faculty have attended this seminar.
ONE DAY VISIT TO TAKHNI REHMAPUR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 28/10/2022
On October 28, 2022, a one-day visit was made to Kisan Mela Bahowal and Takhni Rehmapur
wildlife sanctuary by the Life sciences department of B.A.M. Khalsa college, Garhshankar, in
which the head of the department, Dr. Manbeer Kaur, teachers Prof. Naresh Kumari, Prof.
Ashwani Kumar, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, lab attendant Jaspal Singh, Hardeep Singh and +1, +2,
B.Sc, B.Sc B.ed students were included. During this visit, first of all, the students along with the
teachers went to KVK Bahowal where they got information about seeds, fertilizers, animal feed,
pure honey etc. from the different stalls there. After that, they visited Takhni wildlife sanctuary,
where Mr. Charanjit Singh, the in-charge of the place warmly welcomed everyone and told that
this sanctuary is spread over 956 acres due to which different types of plants and wild animals
can be seen here. He also told that this is the only wildlife sanctuary in Punjab, where leopard
breeding takes place. After this, the students went inside the sanctuary where they were told
about taking pictures of wild animals during day and night with the help of trap camera.
Sandalwood saplings are also planted here along with various fruit plants.
The students and teachers enjoyed the visit a lot and thanked the wildlife department for giving
them the opportunity to see the wildlife sanctuary of their district and observe nature closely.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PRESERVATION OF OZONE LAYER 16/9/2022
On Sept 16, 2022 under keen supervision of Principal Dr. Baljit Singh Khaira, the Life Sciences dept. of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar celebrated International day for preservation of Ozone Layer. Khushi Sharma, a student of class B.sc-3rd year, gave the introductory speech. She started her speech by introducing the theme of this year, which was "Global cooperation protecting life on earth". She further emphasized the role of individuals in protecting ozone layer.
Principal Dr. Baljit Singh Khaira advised students to use environment-friendly products , prohibit the use of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment that do not use HCFCs as refrigerant.
The students of +2, B.sc Gen ( 1,2,3 Med. & Non-med.), B.sc B.ed ( 1,2,3 Med.& Non-med) took part in poster making competition organized by the Life sciences department. Total 13 students were participated in this competition. HOD Dr. Manbeer Kaur, Dr. Kuldeeep Kaur, Prof. Jatinder Kaur, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur gave the judgement in this competition.
In the end Principal Dr.Baljit Singh also shared his views with the students on how to preserve ozone layer and the students got rewarded by their respected principal sir and staff.

World Environment Day 2022
On 6 June 2022 BAM Khalsa College Garhshankar together with Institute of engineers has organised a webinar and Plantation Drive on the theme one earth to celebrate world environment Day .The key speaker of the webinar was Dr Subhrata Mishra She enlighten us with what is environment and different issues related with environment The chief guest of the webinar was Dr TS Kamal. Welcome address was given by chairman SS Mundi . Principal Dr Baljit Singh presented vote of thanks . The webinar was conducted by Dr Manbeer Kaur.

Educational trip to Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Chandigarh
An educational trip to ICCC (Integrated Command and Control Centre Chandigarh) was organized by ‘Business Students’ Association’ on 10-02-2023. This one day trip was organized under the able guidance of Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, HoD. Students gained knowledge about the Control Centre of ‘Smart City’ Chandigarh. The manager of ICCC personally interacted with students and shared his methodology on how they control and monitor the whole city’s security, waste management, traffic routing and city bike pooling etc. He also explained how they manage all the data across other departments.
After this educational session the trip advanced to an entertainment zone i.e. for Chokhi Dhani, Panchkula. This was very enjoyable for students. All enjoyed food, games, rides, cultural activities and much more.
