“Unlocking Your Potential: An Expert talk to Inspiring Students to Pursue a Career in the Armed Forces”

An expert talk was organized jointly by National Cadet Corps (NCC), Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC), and Alumni Cell at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, under the management of SGPC, Sri Amritsar, to educate and motivate NCC Cadets and other college students about joining the Indian Armed Forces.

Brig. Raj Kumar (Retd.) and Capt. Ranbir Singh Pathania (Retd.) gave a speech to more than 80 students. Prof. Jaspal Singh, the principal, formally welcomed the speakers and present them fresh flower pots.

Captain RS Pathania briefed the pupils on the Indian armed forces and their various branches. He discussed NDA, IMA, ACC, JAG, and TA. He encouraged the students to join the military. He told the audience about the army’s important attributes. He discussed the army’s tough existence, professionalism, unit culture, secularism, and other things. He recounted his personal perspective and shed light on army life.

Brig. Raj Kumar began his speech by mentioning the youngsters’ strengths such as honesty and integrity, but that work must be done solely on exposure. He inspires the pupils by discussing his own life experiences and difficulties. Brig. Raj Kumar further stated that the Punjab government has established the Mai Bhago Military Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls in Mohali, as well as the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Sector-77, Mohali. Brig. outline the directions for the UPSC tests as well as the SSB interview. He mentioned transparency in the selection process. OLQs, time management, and hard effort are the keys to success Brig. said.

SUO-Parteek and UO-Harmanpreet Kaur did an excellent job hosting the event. The session ended with a vote of gratitude from NCC officer Lt. Gurpreet Singh. The principal and staff presented the day’s speakers with a token of honor. Prof. Lakhwinder Jeet Kaur, in charge of the Alumni Cell, and Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Department of Business and Economics, were also present there.

Poetry Competition Held at Khalsa College & Certificates Given to the Winners of ‘Poetry Writing Competition’

In a recently held competition of ‘Poem Writing Competition (March 21, 2023)’ at BAM Khalsa College, the winners of the competitions were given Certificates. This will motivate them to soar high in the future endeavours and would act as catalyst for the other students.

Principal Jaspal Singh distributed the certificates to the winners.

 




BA SEM III Uni. Result Declared, Girls Outshined the Boys

In the recently declared result of BA SEM III of Panjab University, Chandigarh, girls outshined the boys and secured all the top positions.

1st Position was secured by Sangeeta D/o Kishori Lal (314/400, 78.5%) and 2nd position was bagged by Suneha, D/o Satnam Ram (266/350, 76%).  3rd Position was again secured by a girl student- Navdeep Kaur, D/o Satnam Singh(260/350, 74.28%).



“Celebration of World Poetry Day at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar”

World Poetry Day is celebrated on March 21 annually to promote the reading, writing, and teaching of poetry throughout the world. World Poetry Day also aims to promote poetry as a means of preserving indigenous languages and cultures, as well as to encourage the translation of poems from different languages to promote cross-cultural understanding.

Department of Languages of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar organised ‘Poem Writing Competition’ on March 21, 2023 to inculcate the habit of creative writing among its students. Theme of this year’s competition was “Love for Nature”, but students were given choice to choose any other topic of their interest. Poems could be written in any language (Punjabi, Hindi, English). Prof. Navdeep Singh chalked out this event, and students all across the streams were asked to submit their original poems. Students from all the departments, submitted their poems to the coordinator of the event. Then these poems were sent for evaluation. Prof. Kamaljit Kaur, Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur and Prof. Navdeep Singh performed the duty as judges and with consent of all the judges a final result was declared.

Poem of Akashdep Singh (BA 2nd Year) was adjudged as first. Kirandeep Kaur (B.Sc.-B.Ed. 2nd Year) & Rajveer Kaur (BA 1st year) shared the second position. 3rd position was secured by four students- Priyanka Rani (B.Sc.-B.Ed 2nd Year), Akasheep Thind (BA3rd Year), Ankita Rana (B.Sc.-B.Ed. 2nd Year, and Payal (B.A.-B.Ed. 3rd Year. Certificates were given to all the position holders so that alongside the winners all other students could be motivated

Prof. Navdeep Singh gave a speech on the background of this day. College Principal, Prof. Jaspal Singh shared his views regarding poetry and made appeal to the students to devote themselves for literature, especially Poetry. He emphasised that Poetry is the most potent weapon to change the mindset of thousands of hundred people. Principal applauded the efforts of the department for organising such meaningful events, especially he thanked Prof. Navdeep Singh who was the coordinator of this event.

Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Prof. Ritu Singh, Prof. Kamaljit Kaur, Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Prof. Navdeep Singh were present there.

 

 




Powerpoint Presentation on “Why Chemistry Matters?” Dated: 30-May-2022

The Department of Chemistry, under the aegis of III Society of Science has organised the powerpoint presentation on the topic “Why chemistry matters?” on 30th May, 2022 at 9.00 a.m. in the Room No. 33. The event has been organized by the teaching faculty, Prof. Mukesh Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Virdi & Prof. Baldeep Kaur of Chemistry Department of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. In this competition the 14 students of M.Sc. (Chemistry) & B.Sc./B.Sc.B.Ed.(Medical/Non-medical) have presented on the various topics of Chemistry. Approximately, around 50 students have attended this seminar. The first position has been nailed by Ms. Anchal & Ms. Manisha, the students of M.Sc. (Chemistry) while the second position was bagged by Ms. Riya and Ms. Mansi of B.Sc.B.Ed.(Non-medical) & third position was acquired by Ms. Lishika and Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur of B.Sc.(Non-medical). All the participants was awarded with the prizes and certificates by the Principal, Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra of the college.  Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra Ji has told the students about the importance of participation in the various seminars and encouraged the students to participate in such events in future also.

 




Quiz Competition

On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, an online quiz competition was organised by the Department of Education in collaboration with National Service Scheme on 14 April, 2022. The questions in the quiz highlighted the life history of Dr. Ambedkar and the contribution he has made to the Indian Constitution . Around 150 students from different schools and college participated in the quiz. The HoD of the department appreciated the students’ efforts and congratulated the winners. The Principal of the college Dr. Baljit Singh motivated the students to participate in such events in future and choose the right path following the teachings of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

Scholarship of Rs. 1.22 Lakh awarded to needy students on the occasion of Gurpurb Guru Sri Hargobind Sahib ji.

Cheques of Rs 1.22 Lakh as S. Darshan Singh Pinka scholarship to the 25 needy students were given away on the occasion of Gurmat Sagamagam in relation to the Gurpurb Guru Sri Hargobind Sahib ji in the presence of the President of Alumni Association of BAM Khalsa College Captain R. S. Pathania, member Ranjit Singh Banga, Principal Dr. Baljit Singh, students, and staff of the college. Dr. Baljit Singh Principal informed the members that the awarded money was part of the donation of Rs. 1.5 Lakh by Mr. Darshan Singh Pinka US Alumni in the memories of his son Late Jaspreet Singh.
