Mega Placement Drive By DESGPC

The “Mega Placement Drive 2024,” organized by the Directorate of Education under the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, was successfully conducted on June 29, 2024, at Kalghidhar Niwas, Madhya Marg, Sector 27-B, Chandigarh. The event marked a significant milestone in the efforts to provide employment opportunities to final-year students from SGPC institutions, furthering their career prospects by connecting them with a diverse range of employers.

The placement drive witnessed the participation of a large number of students from various SGPC-affiliated institutions. Over 500 final-year students attended the event, eager to explore the career opportunities offered by the participating companies.

A total of 20 plus companies from diverse sectors, including IT, healthcare, education, finance, and manufacturing, participated in the drive. The companies ranged from well-established firms to emerging startups, all of which were looking to recruit fresh talent. Some of the prominent companies included [Tech Mahindra, Indusind Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Chd, Axis Bank, Delhi, The Future University Mohali, CS Soft Solution, Teleperformance, P&R Group, Sundram Finance, Skill lab, HDB Financial Services, Quess Coorperation Limited, ICICI Bank Solitaire Infosys Private Limited, Bajaj Insurance Company]. These organizations conducted on-the-spot interviews, group discussions, and aptitude tests as part of their selection process.

The Mega Placement Drive 2024 yielded positive results, with over 300 students short listed on the spot. Many students were selected for multiple roles, with some even receiving offers from more than one company. The remaining students were shortlisted for further rounds of interviews, which will take place in the coming weeks.

Both the participating companies and the students provided overwhelmingly positive feedback about the event. Employers praised the high caliber of the students, noting their readiness and enthusiasm for entering the professional world. Students expressed their gratitude to the SGPC and the Directorate of Education for organizing such a well-structured and impactful event, which provided them with a direct pathway to employment.

The successful execution of the Mega Placement Drive 2024 underscores SGPC’s commitment to the holistic development of its students. By organizing such events, SGPC not only enhances the employability of its students but also strengthens its reputation as a forward-thinking educational institution that prioritizes the future careers of its students.




Two Days workshop on Mock interview and Group Discussion

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of BAMKC organized a two-day workshop on “Mock Interview and Group Discussion” on 9th and 12th April 2024. The workshop was designed to prepare students for the selection processes commonly used by employers, focusing on enhancing their interview and group discussion skills.
On the first day, participants engaged in mock interviews conducted by industry professionals. The aim was to simulate real interview scenarios, allowing students to practice their responses, receive constructive feedback, and improve their performance. The session also provided insights into common interview questions, effective communication techniques, and how to make a positive impression.
The second day was centered around group discussions, a critical component of many selection processes. Students were guided on how to effectively participate in group discussions, including how to articulate their thoughts clearly, work collaboratively, and present their ideas persuasively. The session included live group discussions on various topics, with facilitators offering feedback on each participant’s performance and providing tips on how to stand out in a group setting.
The workshop was well-received by the students, who appreciated the hands-on approach and practical advice. Many participants reported feeling more confident and better equipped to face interviews and group discussions in future selection processes. The CGPC and IIC plan to continue offering such workshops to further enhance the employability skills of BAMKC students.




Two Days workshop on resume writing and mock interview

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of BAMKC organized a two-day workshop on “Resume Writing and Mock Interview” on 11th and 14th March 2024 at the BAMKC Auditorium. The workshop was aimed at preparing students for the job market by enhancing their resume writing skills and boosting their confidence through mock interviews.
On the first day, the focus was on resume writing, with industry experts guiding students on how to create a professional and tailored resume. The session covered essential components of a resume, the importance of customizing it for different job roles, and common mistakes to avoid. Participants had the opportunity to receive real-time feedback on their resumes, helping them to identify areas for improvement.
The second day was dedicated to mock interviews, simulating real-life interview scenarios. Students learned how to prepare for interviews, with a focus on behavioral interviews using the STAR technique. The session included mock interviews conducted by professionals, followed by detailed feedback, and tips on handling tough questions and improving non-verbal communication.
The workshop was well-received, with students expressing increased confidence in their ability to create effective resumes and perform well in interviews. CGPC and IIC plan to organize similar workshops in the future to further support students in their career development.




Extension Lecture on Career Guidance

On March 13, 2024, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Career Guidance and Placement Cell, successfully organized an Extension Lecture on Career Guidance. The event, which took place at 11:00 AM, was a part of the Institution’s ongoing commitment to providing students with valuable insights into their future career paths.

The lecture featured Ms. Pooja Sharma, Vice Principal of the Government School, Nawanshehr, as the Resource Person, and Mr. Jagdish Rai, representing the Adarsh Social Welfare Society and a retired Principal of the Government School, Nawanshehr, as the Guest Speaker. Both speakers brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the session, providing students with practical advice and guidance on career planning and development.

The event was meticulously organized under the leadership of Dr. Gurpreet Singh (Coordinator CGPC), Prof. Deepika (Member IQAC), Prof. Navdeep Singh (Member IQAC), and Dr. Ajay Dutta (President IIC). The efforts of these coordinators ensured that the lecture was not only informative but also engaging for all attendees.In her opening remarks, Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Coordinator of IQAC, emphasized the importance of career guidance in shaping the future of students. Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur, the Principal of the college, also addressed the gathering, encouraging students to take full advantage of such opportunities to enhance their career prospects. Throughout the session, Ms. Pooja Sharma and Mr. Jagdish Rai discussed various career options, the importance of skill development, and the need for continuous learning in today’s competitive job market. The speakers also interacted with students, answering their queries and providing personalized advice based on their individual aspirations.

The lecture was well-received by the students, who appreciated the practical insights and the opportunity to engage with experienced educators. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the speakers, organizers, and participants. Overall, the Extension Lecture on Career Guidance was a significant success, providing students with the knowledge and motivation needed to pursue their career goals with confidence.

Khalsa College, Garhshankar’sInternal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with Institute Innovation Council (IIC) organised an expert talk on the topic entitled “Innovation and Start-Up Ecosystem Enablers from the Region” under the able guidance of College Principal, Dr.AmandeepHeera on August 05, 2024. This expert talk aimed at exploring the role of the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. The event commenced with a warm welcome to all attendees, highlighting the significance of innovation in driving societal progress and economic development.Principal, Dr.AmandeepHeerawelcomed the esteemed speaker, Dr.GurpreetKaur and introduced her with the College’s IIC and its working.

Speaker: 

Dr.GurpreetKaur, Head of the PG Department of English at Sri Guru TegBhadur College, Anandpur Sahib, and President of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) and Ambassador, delivered an insightful talk on the theme “Innovation and Start-Up Ecosystem Enablers from the Region.”

Aims and Functions of IIC:

Dr.GurpreetKaur began by explaining the aims and functions of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), established under the Ministry of Education, India. She highlighted the council’s objectives to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within educational institutions. The primary functions include:

  • Encouraging creative thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset among students and faculty.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and competitions to nurture innovative ideas.
  • Providing mentorship and support for converting innovative ideas into viable start-ups.
  • Establishing linkages with industry and other academic institutions for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Defining Innovation:

Dr.Kaur emphasized the importance of understanding what constitutes innovation. She defined innovation as the process of translating ideas or inventions into goods and services that create value for which customers will pay. Innovation involves:

  • Identifying unmet needs or problems.
  • Developing creative solutions through brainstorming and research.
  • Experimenting and prototyping to refine the solution.
  • Implementing and scaling the solution to achieve market impact.

Converting Innovation to Start-Up:

The session further delved into the process of converting innovative ideas into start-ups. Dr.Kaur outlined the critical steps in this journey:

 

  • Idea Validation: Ensuring that the idea addresses a real problem and has potential market demand.
  • Business Planning: Creating a detailed business plan outlining the business model, target market, revenue streams, and operational plan.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Developing a prototype and conducting tests to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
  • Funding and Resources: Exploring various funding options, including grants, angel investors, and venture capital, along with leveraging institutional resources.
  • Market Entry: Strategizing the market entry with a robust marketing and sales plan to reach the target audience.
  • Scaling and Growth: Focusing on scaling the operations, expanding the market reach, and continuously innovating to stay competitive.

Conclusion:

Dr.GurpreetKaur concluded the talk by emphasizing the role of educational institutions and councils like IIC in creating a supportive ecosystem for innovation and start-ups. She encouraged students and faculty to actively participate in innovation activities and leverage the resources and opportunities provided by IIC to transform their ideas into successful ventures.
