An Extension Lecture on “Print & Electronic Media – Possibilities and Challenges” by News Editor of Jag Bani/Punjab Kesari Chandigarh

The Department of Computer Science and Applications, in collaboration with the Department of Languages & Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar conducted a one-day workshop on Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behavior Development on January 29th 2024.

S. Jagjeevan Meet was the keynote speaker of the workshop. He is a Sr. News Editor, Jag Bani & Punjab Kesari, Chandigarh. A workshop on “Electronic Media Skill Development” was organized with the aim of enhancing the proficiency of participants in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively.

   

This workshop focused on imparting knowledge and practical techniques relevant to the contemporary digital landscape, equipping attendees with the skills necessary for success in the electronic media industry. An expert in electronic media delivered a comprehensive presentation covering various aspects of electronic media, including social media marketing, content creation, digital advertising, and audience engagement strategies. The presentation provided participants with valuable insights into the evolving landscape of electronic media and highlighted the importance of mastering digital skills in today’s interconnected world. Real-world case studies were presented to illustrate the practical application of electronic media strategies in various contexts. By examining successful electronic media campaigns and initiatives, participants gained valuable insights into effective digital marketing techniques and content creation strategies. Hands-on activities were organized to provide participants with practical experience in using electronic media tools and platforms. Participants were given the opportunity to create and optimize content for different electronic media channels, allowing them to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the lecture.

The workshop on Electronic Media Skill Development was successful in achieving its objectives of enhancing participants’ proficiency in utilizing electronic media platforms effectively. By providing participants with valuable insights, practical techniques, and hands-on experience, the lecture has equipped them with the skills necessary to thrive in the digital age.




Diwali Celebration 2023

On 10th November 2023,  On the occasion of Diwali, ‘Diwali Celebrations’ event was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Applications in collaboration with IIC. The programme was organised under the guidance of the head of the department Dr. Ajay Dutta. Vice Principal Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh was the chief guest on this occasion. All the staff members of DCSA welcomed the chief guest and faculty members of College. Prof. Kamini guided the students for speech.

All graduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Computer Science and Applications were present in this programme. Students, named as Ms. Harpreet Kaur from BCA1, Ms. Anchal and Ms. Deeksha Thakur presented their speech and shared the importance of ‘GREEN DIWALI’. All class rooms and computer labs were decorated by their students. Students were guided by their respective Class Coordinator for decoration and rangoli making.

BCA1, BCA2, BCA3, PGDCA and MSC.IT was guided by Prof. Manpreet Singh ,Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, Prof. Ruchi, Prof. Priyanka Bhatia and Prof. Harjot Kaur respectively. Vice Principal Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh also interacted with students and congratulated the faculty members on ‘Diwali’. Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, addressed the students and blessed all the students at the event




ACCELERATORS AND INCUBATION OPPORTUNITIES

On August 23, 2024, Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organized an expert talk titled “Accelerators and Incubation Opportunities.” The event was hosted by the Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The session, held in the Environment Lab, featured Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Innovation Ambassador and Assistant Professor in Botany, as the speaker.
Dr.Kuldeep Kaur provided an insightful overview of accelerators and incubators, emphasizing their importance in supporting early-stage startups through mentorship, funding, and networking opportunities. She highlighted the benefits for students and faculty, encouraging them to utilize these platforms to transform innovative ideas into successful ventures. The talk also underscored the significance of local and regional innovation and the need for collaboration between academic institutions, industry, and government.

The event, presided over by Dr. Ajay Dutta and hosted by Prof. Deepika, was well-received by the attendees and marked a successful step in promoting entrepreneurship within the college community.




Poster Presentation of Ideas and Linkage with Innovation Ambasadors

The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a two-day Idea Showcase: Poster Presentation of Ideas & Linkage with Innovation Ambassadors at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, on 25th and 26th November 2024. The event aimed to foster innovation, creativity, and presentation skills among students while encouraging them to think critically and propose innovative solutions to real-world problems.

On the first day, Prof Deepika, Innovation Ambassador and Convener IIC, conducted an interactive session to guide students about the theme of the event. She introduced the concept of idea generation, poster presentation, and the importance of linking innovation to practical solutions. Prof Deepika motivated the participants to explore their creativity and refine their ideas into clear, actionable presentations. The session proved highly beneficial as it equipped the students with insights into preparing for their poster presentations.

The second day of the event featured the main activity where students presented their ideas through creative and well-designed posters. Each participant explained his/her concepts in detail, highlighting the feasibility, practicality, and innovative aspects of their solutions. The evaluators for the event were Dr Amandeep Heera (Principal of the College), Prof Deepika (Innovation Ambassador & Convener IIC) and Dr Ajay Dutta (Innovation Ambassador & President IIC). The evaluators assessed the presentations on various parameters such as creativity, clarity of thought, and potential impact.

At the end of the event, the evaluators announced the winners, and prizes were distributed to the students securing first, second and third positions. The winners were appreciated for their outstanding performance and innovative ideas. The event concluded with encouraging remarks from the evaluators, who commended the participants for their efforts and creativity.

The success of the event was made possible due to the collective efforts of the organizers, including Dr Preetinder Singh, Prof Chandni, Prof Kamini, and Prof Pragti, under the leadership and guidance of the Principal, Dr Amandeep Heera. The two-day Idea Showcase not only provided a platform for students to present their innovative ideas but also inspired them to develop a mindset focused on innovation and problem-solving.




Two Days Workshop on Mathematics and its Scope

The Department of Mathematics at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with IQAC, organized a two-day workshop on “Mathematics & its Scope”. The event aimed to highlight the importance of mathematics and its career opportunities.

Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera welcomed the guest speaker, Dr. Nisar Lone, from the JK Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Srinagar, and his colleague Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Assistant Professor from the same institute. The workshop was coordinated and hosted by Prof. Deepika.

Dr. Nisar Lone delivered engaging lectures over two days, covering the applications and scope of mathematics. Student interaction sessions allowed participants to ask questions and clarify doubts. Tutorials conducted by Prof. Deepika on Day 1 and Prof. Chandni on Day 2 helped students strengthen their problem-solving skills.

The event concluded with Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh expressing the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the speaker, guests, faculty, and students. The workshop was a successful initiative that inspired students to explore mathematics as a field of study and research.




MODEL/PROJECT PRESENTATION ON FEBRUARY 28, 2024

On Feb 28, 2024, on the occasion of “National Science Day” a Model/Project presentation competition was organised by the Physics Department at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. This activity aimed to cultivate the students’ scientific, inventive, and creative mindset. A total of 30 students from the science and education stream participated in this activity. The students presented about 6 to 7 topics. Each team presented its Model or project to the judges. The result of this activity was announced on the same day, and then prizes were distributed.

CHANDRAYAAN-3 POSTER PRESENTATION ON AUGUST 19, 2023

On Aug 19, 2023, on the occasion of the “Smooth Landing of CHANDRAYAAN- 3” a poster presentation competition was organised by Physics Department at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. The objective of this activity was to develop in students an innovative, creative, and scientific mindset. There were a total of 25 students from the science stream who participated in this activity. About 8 to 9 topics were presented by the students. Each team presents their poster to the judges. The result of this activity was announced on the same day, and after that, prizes weredistributed.




Workshop on Fabric Painting 24/04/2024

On April 24,2024 BAM Khalsa College Garhshankar hosted a fabric painting workshop organized  by Professor Jatinder Kaur Assistant Professor Home Sciences (Department of Life Sciences).Mrs. Ritu Lal Led the session, sharing techniques for drawing painting and block painting on fabric she also demonstrated simple way to create home made blocks, helping student design unique fabric patterns. Prof Lakhwinderjeet Kaur(O) expressed gratitude to Mrs Lal for her guidance. Twenty students and Dr Manbirko and Kuldeep Kaur were also present at  event.




Technical talk cum Webinar on Research Methodology for beginners 06/04/2024

Technical talk cum webinar on “Research Methodology for Beginners” was organized by Department of Life Sciences in collaboration with REEDS . Resource person of this webinar was Dr. Rajni Lamba  Anthropologist &CEO of REEDS.Dr.Janki Aggarwal Welcomed the resource person and participants.she also motivate the students to be a part of research activities as research id need of the hour. In the opening remarks Dr Lamba led emphasis on three keys ofResearch  i.e  What, Why , How. She emphasized on that select your topic first then select the area of research, area of interest& study the material available. Always start with small/easy  research.  she also gave information to the student that research may be theoretical or may be practical it may be field research or a lab research . She gave information on methodology also.




Educational Tour 28/03/2024

A one-day educational tour for the students of Science Departments and Education Department of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garshankar, was taken to Nadha Sahib, Siswan Community Reserve and Yadvindra Garden, Pinjore. First, the students took a walk on the Siswan Nature Trail and learned about various types of trees, natural herbs and also enjoyed boating.

After this, the students visited Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Dasavi Nadha Sahib and gathered religious and historical information as well as saw Guru Ka Langar. After that they were taken to Yadvindra Garden Pinjore where they all touched together Participated in Janjeer-Chuh Poshan-Pa, Kokala-Chhapakhi, and Intakshari and enjoyed a lot and also interacted with the tourists from different states. Dr.Manbeer Kaur, Dr. Mukesh Sharma ,P.Naresh kumari.Dr.Preerinder Singh and faculty member also went on this trip.
