Dept of Arts & IQAC Organised a Special Session on Financial Literacy

The Principal of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Dr. Amandeep Heera, has always emphasized the importance of organizing informative and skill-enhancing sessions for students. Under her guidance, the IQAC & Arts Department of the college organized a Special Session on Financial Literacy on 28th February 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Smart Room. The session aimed to educate students and faculty about essential financial concepts such as Budgeting, Saving, Digital Banking, Cyber Frauds, and the Ombudsman Scheme.
The session was conducted by Sh. Sanjeev Singh, AGM, RBI, Chandigarh, who provided valuable insights into financial management and digital banking. He highlighted the significance of financial planning, discussed the rising risks of cyber frauds, and explained the Ombudsman scheme, which serves as a grievance redressal mechanism for banking customers. His session was highly interactive, allowing students and faculty to clarify their doubts and gain practical knowledge about secure financial practices. Mr. Singh acquainted students with basic life insurances costing only 20Rs. & 436 Rs. respectively a year. As a token of appreciation, refreshment & coffee mugs with the RBI logo printed on them were distributed to the attendees.
Prof. Navdeep Singh moderated the session, ensuring smooth interaction between the speaker and the attendees. Prof. Ritu Singh, the College Nodal Officer (RBI), played a crucial role in coordinating the event. The session also had the active support of Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Head, Dept. of Social Sciences, and Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Co-ordinator, IQAC. The stage was efficiently managed by Prof. Priyanka Rani, who ensured the seamless flow of the event.
The event witnessed the participation of around 100 students, across all departments, who benefited immensely from the session. The faculty members of the college, Prof. Kalwant Singh, Dr. Janki Aggarwal, Dr. Manbeer Kaur, Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Prof. Kamaljeet Kaur, Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Prof. Saurav Dadri, Prof. Naresh Kumari, Prof. Rekha, Prof. Amanpreet Kaur, to name a few, also attended and actively engaged in the discussion, making it a fruitful learning experience for all. The Principal, Dr. Amandeep Heera, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the need for more such informative sessions to enhance students’ practical knowledge beyond academics.




Educational Trip to Anandpur Sahib for BA/BSc B.Ed Students of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar

on 22/02/2025, Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College,organized an enriching educational trip for BA and BSc students to Anandpur Sahib. The trip was conducted under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera and aimed to provide students with historical and spiritual insights.

During the visit, students explored the revered Gurdwara Sahibs of Anandpur Sahib and gained a deep understanding of Sikh heritage and traditions. A major highlight of the trip was their visit to Virasat-e-Khalsa, a world-class museum that showcases the rich history and culture of Punjab and Sikhism through immersive exhibits and modern technology.

The students were accompanied by faculty members Prof. Sangha Gurbaksh Kaur, Prof. Navdeep Singh, Prof. Preetinder Singh, and Prof. Amanpreet, who ensured an informative and engaging experience. The trip was highly appreciated by students as it provided them with a unique opportunity to connect with their cultural roots and learn beyond the classroom.

The college administration commended the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the significance of such educational trips in fostering holistic learning.

ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਅਧੀਨ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਮੌਰ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਬੱਬਰ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਮੈਮੋਰੀਅਲ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਗੜ੍ਹਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਆਰਟਸ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੇ ਬੈਨਰ ਹੇਠ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ  ਡਾ.ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਹੀਰਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਅੰਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਵਸ’ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। “ਮਾਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੁਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਗਤ ਮਨਾਏ ਗਏ ਇਸ ਇਸ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਯੋਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਬੰਧ ਲੇਖਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਗਏ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ   ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਧ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦਾ ਆਗ਼ਾਜ਼ ਡਾ. ਕੰਵਲਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ,ਸਟਾਫ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ  ਜੀ ਆਇਆ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ  ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ   ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੀਤਾ । ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਅਮਨਦੀਪ ਹੀਰਾ   ਨੇ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝ, ਬੋਲ,ਲਿਖ ਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਦੂਸਰੀਆਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤਜ਼ਰਬਿਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ਼ ਜੁੜਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।  ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਰਬਪੱਖੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਖਾਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੋਲ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਿਬੰਧ ਲੇਖਣ ਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ । ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਮਰਨ,ਜਸਮੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਜਸਪਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਦੂਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਨਿਬੰਧ ਲੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਸਮੀਨ ਕੌਰ , ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਦਿਲਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਸੌਰਵ ਦਾਦਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ,ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ  ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ । ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਲਖਵਿੰਦਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਮਨਬੀਰ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਜਾਨਕੀ ਅਗਰਵਾਲ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਰਿਤੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।




Dept of English Organised “Extension Lecture-cum-Workshop “Vernacular Bridge Course to Learn English”

Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, Department of English and the Liberal Arts Society of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organized an Extension Lecture-cum-Workshop on “Vernacular Bridge Course to Learn English” on February 21, 2025, in the Smart Room. The session was conducted by Prof. Nirmal Datt, Former Head, Department of English, DAV College, Chandigarh.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of around 100 students from various streams, including Arts, Commerce, B.Sc., B.Ed., and BCA. Prof. Datt shared valuable insights on how vernacular languages can be effectively used as a bridge to master English, thereby enhancing students’ communication skills and confidence. His extensive experience in language teaching and his books on the subject provided students with practical tools to improve their English proficiency.
Several faculty members attended the workshop, including Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Prof. Janki Aggarwal, Prof. Manbeer Kaur, Prof. Kuldeep Kaur, Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Prof. Preetinder Singh, Prof. Saurav Dadri, and Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur.
A special vote of thanks was extended to S. Sukhminder Singh, Secretary Education, SGPC, for his continuous efforts in improving English language education across SGPC-run institutions. His dedication to enhancing students’ language skills has been instrumental in organizing such educational initiatives. Dr. Datt, Principal Dr Amandeep Heera, Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Prof. Ritu Singh, Prof. Navdeep Singh, Prof. Poonam and other faculty members inaugurated ELF (English Learners’ Fraternity) Club at the College. This is done under the guidance of Principal Dr Heera & Prof. Datt to promote English language and its understanding.
Prof. Ritu Singh, Head of the Department of English, expressed gratitude to the guest speaker and faculty members for their participation and encouraged students to actively apply the techniques discussed in the workshop. Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal, lauded the initiative and emphasized the importance of such interactive sessions in shaping students’ academic and professional growth. The event was coordinated by Prof. Navdeep Singh, who ensured smooth execution of the session.
The workshop concluded on a high note, leaving students motivated and equipped with innovative strategies to strengthen their command of the English language.




International Seminar Organized by Arts Department (Liberal Arts Society)

On 18 Feb, 2025, the Liberal Arts Society of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with Punjabi Jagat Sabha, Canada, successfully organized an International Seminar on “Naitik Kadran Keemtan Da Mool Jharna: Parivar, Samaj, Sikhiya”. Under the leadership of College Principal, Dr. Amandeep Heera, and coordinated by Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur & Prof. Kamaljeet Kaur, the seminar brought together scholars and intellectuals to discuss the significance of moral values in shaping individuals, families, and society. Bhulewal Ratthan, Member, SGPC, Principal, Dr. Jasvir Singh(Sri Guru Teg Bhadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib), Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti (Key-note Speaker), Ajaib Singh Chattha, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur(Head, Dept of English, SGTB, Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib), Principal Dr Ranjit Singh (Bhai Sangat Singh Khalsa College, Banga), Prof. (Rtd.) Balwinderjeet Kaur Bhatti, (Panjabi University, Patiala), Dr. Jang Bhadur Singh (Resource Person), SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur), S. Balbir Singh Chiangara (International Sikh Preacher) and participants across many institutions graced the occasion.

The event started with an inaugural session featuring enlightening speeches by distinguished academicians, followed by parallel academic and technical sessions that explored the role of education, Gurbani, and culture in preserving moral values. The seminar concluded with a thought-provoking valedictory session where key takeaways were shared, emphasizing the importance of ethical values in today’s world. Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Dept of History conducted the stage.




One Day Online Workshop on “Innovation Assesment (through Technology Readiness Level) and PMEGP”

Under the esteemed guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, the E-waste committee in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry and the Department of English under the aegis of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organised a One Day Online workshop on 22-2-2025 on the topic “Innovation Assessment through Technology Transfer Readiness Level and PMEGP (Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme).” Ms. Paramjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Computer Science Department) of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, was the key speaker of this workshop. Prof. Paramjit enriched the knowledge of students about innovation and its assessment. Also, she explained the various aspects of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP Scheme), which is a major credit-linked subsidy program aimed at generating self-employment opportunities through the establishment of micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector. Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera welcomed the keynote speaker, Ms. Paramjeet Kaur. She also encouraged the students to develop the innovative ideas and make use of various government schemes like PMEGP. Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Mr. Sahil Sharma (librarian), Ms. Poonam, and Ms. Sandeep Kaur have organised the event. This workshop was attended by around 11 faculty members and 40 students of various streams.




BCA Third Year Students Launch Startup ‘VICO’ for e-Learning and Digital Branding

Department of Computer Science and Applications is celebrating the entrepreneurial achievement of two of its BCA students, Anchal and Upasna, who have successfully launched their own company named as, Visual Intelligence of Coding (VICO).

Registered under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India, VICO is dedicated to providing e-Learning, Website Designing, and Digital Branding services. Their venture aims to blend technology and creativity, fostering innovation in the digital space.

The college’s Incubation Centre (IIC) has played a significant role in supporting and mentoring the students in their journey. Dr. Amandeep Heera, Principal of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College and Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of department of computer science and applications, extended heartfelt congratulations to Anchal and Upasna, applauding their dedication, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit.

“This achievement is an inspiration to all students, proving that with hard work and innovative thinking, young minds can shape the future of technology and business,” remarked Dr. Heera.

VICO’s launch marks a proud moment for the institution, showcasing the growing culture of startups and self-reliance among students. The entire college community wishes them great success in their entrepreneurial journey.




Quiz Competition on Cyber Security

The Department of Computer Science and applications, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a Cyber Security Quiz Competition on 12th January 2025. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about cyber security threats, enhance technical knowledge, and promote a culture of digital safety among students.

All the undergraduate and postgraduate students from various disciplines were allowed to participate in the quiz. As a result, over 40 students enthusiastically participated in this quiz competition. Many questions regarding cyber threats, security and precautions were asked from the competitive teams and Interactive Q&A sessions with the audience which enhanced the knowledge of all regarding the subject. The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes to acknowledge their efforts. Also, participation certificates were also distributed to all the other participants.

The Cyber Security Quiz Competition was a resounding success, fostering awareness about the importance of cyber hygiene. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn in an engaging manner.

The event was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of event coordinator Prof. Harpreet Kaur and team members – Prof. Kamini, Prof. Narinder Jit Kaur, Prof. Priyanka Bhatia and Prof. Harjot Kaur.

The Department of Computer Science and the Institution’s Innovation Council extend their sincere thanks to all participants, faculty members, and the institution’s leadership for their unwavering support in making the event successful.




Powerpoint Presentation on the Topic “The Role of Chemistry in Renewable Energy”

The Department of Chemistry at B.A.M. Khalsa College Garhshankar has been organised a one-day Powerpoint presentation in collaboration with Institution Innovation Council (IIC) under the aegis of the III Society of Science Students on the topic “The Role of Chemistry in Renewable Energy” on 31st January, 2025. In the event, students from M.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Sc. (General Science), and B.Sc.B.Ed. gave their presentations. The event aimed to enhance students understanding of the significance of chemistry in sustainable development and renewable energy technologies. The students covered the various topics related to renewable sources like green chemistry, biofuels, biomass energy, solar energy etc. In this powerpoint presentation competition; Harmanpreet and Bhavya from B.Sc.B.Ed. (4th sem) nailed the 1st position. Lovepreet and Charandeep of M.Sc. Chemistry (4th sem) secured 2nd position. Sia and Payal of B.Sc.B.Ed.(2nd sem) secured 3rd position. The event was graced by the presence of worthy Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera ji. In her speech, she encouraged the students towards innovation and critical thinking in science for future research. The presentation session successfully enhanced students knowledge about renewable sources and the role of chemistry in sustainable development. In this event, 10 teaching faculty and 22 students has participated.




Result Out – Shinning Stars of BCA 2nd Year

The result of Bachelor’s in Computer Application (BCA) third semester has been declared on 31st  January, 2025. All the students of BCA III-Semester of Computer Science and Applications Department performed very well. The Principle of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Dr. Amandeep Heera and the Head of the Computers’ Department Dr. Ajay Dutta congratulated them and give their best wishes to all the students and especially to our Shinning Stars who secured first three positions as well as to the teachers who make them able to achieve this.
