Workshop on Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Startups

The Department of Commerce of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, organized a ‘Workshop on Raising Capital and Managing Finance for Startups’. The event was aimed by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to motivate and educate the students about the startups. 

The key speaker, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, who has been a guiding force in motivating startup mindsets among young students, shared the step by step guide for a successful startup in the present scenario. He also discussed various startups, doing their best around the region. His motivational talk was well-received by the audience, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the students.

The event was attended by the students and faculty of the Department of Commerce. The Principal also lauded the efforts of the IIC and the Department of Commerce in organizing such a meaningful event.




Internship on ‘Working Capital Management’ from 07th April 2025 to 17th April 2025 (10 days) (Session 2024-25)

Students of B. Com. 1st Year class undergone for an Internship  on ‘Working Capital Management’ which was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nitin S Gupta & Associates, Chartered Accountants, and the Department of Commerce & Economics of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar.

Farewell Party : Jashan E Rukhsat 2025

A Farewell party themed ‘Jashan E Rukhsat’ was organized by the Department of Commerce & Computer Science and Applications B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar. It was a goodbye ceremony for outgoing students of BCom, BCA, PGDCA and MCom. This party was very well organized under the able guidance of Head of the Department Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh and Dr. Ajay Dutta. All students of BCom II, BCom III, BCA II, BCA III, PGDCA,  MCom I and MCom II were present in this party. Juniors wish their seniors good luck in various forms like a welcome speech by Harpreet Kaur for their future endeavors. Ranjit Kaur of MCom II sang a very beautiful song. Students of MCom II and BCom III participated in various activities and games. One special round for selection of Mr Farewell and Miss Farewell was also arranged. Exciting games were also arranged for outgoing students like paper dance, freeze dance, caterpillar race, etc. and were enjoyed by all. 

The department of computer science and applications was awarded with a cash prize of ₹ 5,000 for designing the website of department of Commerce and also financial assistance of ₹ 5,000 was provided to students under IIC Startups by Business Students’ Association of department of Commerce at the farewell party. 

Finally, Ms Monika Devi as ‘Miss Farewell’  and Mr Harsh Rana as ‘Mr Farewell’ crowned from MCom. Ms Prinka was crowned with the title of ‘Miss Farewell’ and Mr Arsh Kumar was awarded with the title of ‘Mr Farewell’ from BCom. Ms Deeksha Thakur was crowned with the title of ‘Miss Farewell’ and Mr Tanesh Dhiman was awarded with the title of ‘Mr Farewell’ from BCA. Lastly Mr Amandeep was awarded with ‘Mr Farewell’ from PGDCA batch 2024-25. 

In the end Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, head of the Department of Commerce proposed a vote of thanks and wished good luck to the students of MCom II, PGDCA, BCom III and BCA III for their future and appreciated the efforts of Junior classes. He also expressed his hope that students will continue holding top positions in the university. He also congratulated the whole faculty of the Department of Commerce and Computer Science for organizing such a wonderful farewell. Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera also blessed the students for their brightest future. All faculty members of the college were present in this farewell.

The students of Babbar Akali Memorial (B.A.M.) Khalsa College, Garhshankar, made a remarkable impact at the Two-Day Regional Conference on “Advances in Technology, Innovation, and Management” organized by J.D.C. Bytco Institute of Management Studies & Research, Nashik.

The BCA students presented their research papers at this prestigious platform, and their contributions were officially published, highlighting their academic excellence and innovative research.

The following students showcased their research work:

Deeksha Thakur presented her paper on “Impact of Search Engines and AI-based Content Creation Platforms on National and Personal Security.”

Mannat and Diksha collaborated on a research paper titled “Augmented and Virtual Reality in E-Commerce: A Path to Enhanced Consumer Engagement.”

Anchal and Upasna authored a paper on “Cybersecurity Challenges in the Digital Age: Personal and National Threats from Data Sharing,”

under the expert guidance of Dr. Ajay Dutta, Head of the Computer Science Department.

This achievement is a testament to the strong research culture nurtured at B.A.M. Khalsa College under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera. Special Lecture on “Newspaper Reading Skills: Understanding the Art of Reading News Effectively” Held at B.A.M. Khalsa College,

Under the guidance of the Directorate of Education, Patiala, and the esteemed leadership of College Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, the Department of English at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, successfully organized a special lecture titled “Newspaper Reading Skills: Understanding the Art of Reading News Effectively” on April 9, 2025.

The principal, Dr. Amandeep Heera, in her address, motivated students to develop regular reading habits by accessing the college library and exploring digital platforms for news consumption. However, she emphasized the continuing relevance and authenticity of print media in today’s digital age.

The resource person for the session, Prof. Navdeep Singh, delivered an insightful and engaging lecture using a PowerPoint presentation. He explained the different components of a newspaper, such as headlines, articles, editorials, and opinion pieces. He highlighted the importance of newspapers in improving vocabulary, language skills, and general awareness, particularly for students preparing for government job examinations.

The lecture was coordinated under the able leadership of Prof. Ritu Singh, Head of the Department of English, with active support from Prof. Poonam and the entire English faculty. The session was graced by the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Prof. Jatinder Kaur, and Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur.

Community Connect Program

Under the leadership and encouragement of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Department of Home Science at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, initiated a Community Connect Program aimed at empowering rural women through skill development. As part of this initiative, a visit was organized to village Garhi, which has been adopted under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). The visit focused on skill enhancement and self-reliance for the women of the village.

A vibrant exhibition was held showcasing beautifully crafted tie-and-dye dupattas and block-printed dupattas, highlighting the creativity and potential of such artistic techniques. Prof. Jatinder Kaur, an expert in textile design, conducted a hands-on training session for the village women, teaching them the intricate skills of block painting and stencil painting. The participants learned how to apply these techniques to fabric items like shirts, pillows, and other home textiles.

This initiative is a significant step towards women’s empowerment, as it equips them with a marketable skill that can help them generate their own income. By mastering the art of textile decoration, these women can now explore self-employment opportunities and even establish small-scale businesses, thus contributing to their family income and financial independence.

The objective of the visit was also to raise awareness about influenza, preventive measures, and overall well-being among the women of the village. Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, IQAC Coordinator, conducted an interactive session where she sensitized the women about influenza, its symptoms, modes of transmission, and effective ways to protect themselves and their families. She emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene, proper nutrition, and timely medical care to prevent infections. Beyond physical health, the session also focused on mental well-being and stress management. Dr. Kuldeep Kaur encouraged the women to adopt a healthy lifestyle, eat nutritious food, stay stress-free, and take time for self-care. She highlighted that a positive mindset, self-care, and happiness are key to living a balanced and fulfilling life.The women actively participated in the discussion, sharing their concerns and seeking guidance on health-related issues.




One Week Martial Arts Training Program for Self Defense of girl students

Under the able guidance of Principal Dr Amandeep Heera, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of .Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar successfully organized a 7-days (24th Feb to 2 nd March 2025) Martial Arts Self-Defense Training Program to strengthen the safety and self-reliance of female students.Renowned martial arts trainer Mr. Kamal Kishore Noori provided specialized training to the students.

During this training, students were practiced self-defense techniques, physical strengthening, quick decision-making skills, and special methods to handle potentially dangerous situations. The trainer also raised awareness among students about the importance of personal safety and motivated them to enhance their inner strength and self-confidence.

Throughout the training program, students participated with great enthusiasm and energy. Daily personalized instruction, practical demonstrations, and hands-on practice helped further strengthen their understanding and skills.

At the closing ceremony of the program, Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera appreciated the contributions of the IQAC team and trainer Mr. Kamal Kishore Noori. She advised the students to continuously practice these skills and always remain vigilant.

This program proved to be highly beneficial for the students, helping them become more confident and self-reliant. It stands as a remarkable example of the college’s dedicated efforts toward student safety, personality development, and holistic education.
