Session on “Achieving Problem–Solution Fit”

The Department of Commerce of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an insightful session on “Achieving Problem–Solution Fit” on 24th September 2025. The session was organised under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera. The programme was aimed to develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset among students by helping them understand the importance of identifying genuine problems and designing effective solutions.

The session was conducted by Prof. Gurpreet Singh Kalsi, who provided students with valuable insights into the process of identifying real-world problems, understanding the needs of potential users, and developing solutions that effectively address those needs. He explained that a successful idea must not only be innovative but should also be relevant, practical, and capable of solving an actual problem.

During the session, students were introduced to important aspects of problem identification, customer needs, solution validation, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking. The resource person encouraged students to observe problems in their surroundings and think creatively about possible solutions. Emphasis was also placed on evaluating whether a proposed solution genuinely meets the requirements of its intended users.

The session was interactive and engaging, with students actively participating in the discussion and sharing their ideas and perspectives. The practical approach adopted by the resource person helped students understand how everyday challenges can be transformed into potential opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The programme successfully achieved its objective of sensitizing students towards problem-solving, innovation, and solution-oriented thinking. It also encouraged them to develop a mindset focused on creating practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Special Lecture on World Entrepreneurs Day

The Department of Commerce of B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized a special event to celebrate “World Entrepreneurs Day” on 31st August, 2025. The objective of the program was to highlight the importance of entrepreneurship in shaping the economy, encouraging innovation, and promoting self-reliance among the youth.

The resource person for the session, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, delivered an insightful talk on the role of entrepreneurship in modern business practices, the challenges faced by startups, and the immense opportunities available for young innovators. During the session, students were encouraged to identify opportunities, develop creative ideas and understand the importance of risk-taking, decision-making, financial awareness and effective management in starting and sustaining a business venture. The resource person also motivated students to develop confidence, problem-solving skills and an innovative approach towards emerging business opportunities. The interaction was highly informative and engaging. 

Students actively participated in the session and raised questions related to entrepreneurship, business opportunities and the challenges faced by new entrepreneurs. The programme helped students understand that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business but also about creating value, solving problems and contributing to society and the economy. 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to Dr. Gurpreet Singh for his valuable insights and guidance. The celebration successfully promoted entrepreneurial awareness, creativity and innovation among students and contributed towards fostering an entrepreneurial culture in the institution.

Overall, the celebration of World Entrepreneurs Day at B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar proved to be a great success and served as an inspiration for students to become future leaders and job creators.
