On October 28, 2022, a one-day visit was made to Kisan Mela Bahowal and Takhni Rehmapur
wildlife sanctuary by the Life sciences department of B.A.M. Khalsa college, Garhshankar, in
which the head of the department, Dr. Manbeer Kaur, teachers Prof. Naresh Kumari, Prof.
Ashwani Kumar, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, lab attendant Jaspal Singh, Hardeep Singh and +1, +2,
B.Sc, B.Sc B.ed students were included. During this visit, first of all, the students along with the
teachers went to KVK Bahowal where they got information about seeds, fertilizers, animal feed,
pure honey etc. from the different stalls there. After that, they visited Takhni wildlife sanctuary,
where Mr. Charanjit Singh, the in-charge of the place warmly welcomed everyone and told that
this sanctuary is spread over 956 acres due to which different types of plants and wild animals
can be seen here. He also told that this is the only wildlife sanctuary in Punjab, where leopard
breeding takes place. After this, the students went inside the sanctuary where they were told
about taking pictures of wild animals during day and night with the help of trap camera.
Sandalwood saplings are also planted here along with various fruit plants.
The students and teachers enjoyed the visit a lot and thanked the wildlife department for giving
them the opportunity to see the wildlife sanctuary of their district and observe nature closely.
