Dept of Arts & IQAC Organised a Special Session on Financial Literacy

The Principal of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Dr. Amandeep Heera, has always emphasized the importance of organizing informative and skill-enhancing sessions for students. Under her guidance, the IQAC & Arts Department of the college organized a Special Session on Financial Literacy on 28th February 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Smart Room. The session aimed to educate students and faculty about essential financial concepts such as Budgeting, Saving, Digital Banking, Cyber Frauds, and the Ombudsman Scheme.
The session was conducted by Sh. Sanjeev Singh, AGM, RBI, Chandigarh, who provided valuable insights into financial management and digital banking. He highlighted the significance of financial planning, discussed the rising risks of cyber frauds, and explained the Ombudsman scheme, which serves as a grievance redressal mechanism for banking customers. His session was highly interactive, allowing students and faculty to clarify their doubts and gain practical knowledge about secure financial practices. Mr. Singh acquainted students with basic life insurances costing only 20Rs. & 436 Rs. respectively a year. As a token of appreciation, refreshment & coffee mugs with the RBI logo printed on them were distributed to the attendees.
Prof. Navdeep Singh moderated the session, ensuring smooth interaction between the speaker and the attendees. Prof. Ritu Singh, the College Nodal Officer (RBI), played a crucial role in coordinating the event. The session also had the active support of Prof. Lakhwinderjeet Kaur, Head, Dept. of Social Sciences, and Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Co-ordinator, IQAC. The stage was efficiently managed by Prof. Priyanka Rani, who ensured the seamless flow of the event.
The event witnessed the participation of around 100 students, across all departments, who benefited immensely from the session. The faculty members of the college, Prof. Kalwant Singh, Dr. Janki Aggarwal, Dr. Manbeer Kaur, Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Prof. Kamaljeet Kaur, Prof. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Prof. Saurav Dadri, Prof. Naresh Kumari, Prof. Rekha, Prof. Amanpreet Kaur, to name a few, also attended and actively engaged in the discussion, making it a fruitful learning experience for all. The Principal, Dr. Amandeep Heera, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the need for more such informative sessions to enhance students’ practical knowledge beyond academics.
